This week we return to the Tenth Doctor in his regeneration story The End Of Time. Part One It is the Tenth Doctor's final journey but his psychotic nemesis, the Master, has been resurrected on Christmas Eve! Each determined to cheat death, the battle rages from the abandoned wastelands of London to the mysterious Immortality Gate, whilst the alien Ood warn of an even greater danger approaching, as a terrible shadow falls across the entire Universe...
Part Two The Doctor faces the end of his life as the Master's plans hurtle out of control. With the sound of the drums growing louder in the Master's head and an ancient trap closing around the Earth, the Doctor and Wilf must fight alone. Sacrifices must be made, and the deadly prophecy warns: "He will knock four times."
The End of Time was a two-part Doctor Who special broadcast during the 2009–2010 Christmas season, concluding the "2009 interim season". It featured the final regular appearance of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and introduced Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor. The story is also notable for revealing details of the Last Great Time War, and giving important development to the character of the Master.
From a production standpoint, it marked a sea change in the history of Doctor Who. Like only The War Games before it, The End of Time ushered in a complete change of regular cast. Unlike that 1960s story, however, it was also the final story for its principal producers, Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner and was the last regular story for its head writer, Davies. It was also the first to include any part overseen by — if not credited to — incoming lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat. Though Tracie Simpson was the credited line producer, her elevation to regular line producer on the first Matt Smith series meant that Julie Gardner effectively became the line producer for the first and only time in her tenure on Doctor Who. The next story will be revealed on Sunday July 15th.

Didn't like this so much. The idea was interesting enough but The Master shooting rays from his fingers? The Doctor chasing along in a space ship, crashing through the roof, but surviving? Isn't this the kind of thing that irritated in The Movie? I thought this was all too silly, one of RTs less successful attempts to press our emotional buttons while still maintaining a coherent plot. Although Tennant had more than his fair share of moments as the Doctor I was so happy when Matt Smith took over. 3/5

Wharrah load of old sh*t!
My favourite part of the whole thing seems to be the part that most of fandom hates and that's the fanwanky ending with all the companions. I love that. The bit with the lottery ticket, Rose just before her adventure begins, Martha (not the Mickey part). Jack and Alonso. Joans granddaughter was a bit random but still a nice touch. Wilf was awesome too of course but the story was absurd and was a bit too silly in parts. The Timelords appearance here really goes to show why we're better off without them if you ask me. The Naismiths were badly acted and pointless and the whole 'I don't want to go' stuff had me clawing at my eyes waiting for Tennant to bugger off.

Generally I'm not keen but I do think that there is enough good in it to salvage a decent story. I think RTD wanted a massive story for both himself and Tennant to go out on and as a result went for quantity of coherence. Some of it was very watchable but there was a lot of it that earned groans and facepalms. I'm giving it 3.

I think the biggest problem with this story is that it's a regen story. If it was just a mid season two parter of something I think people would probably give it an easier ride, but for a special event it just didn't really work. People wanted more, I think. It was a bit long for it's own good also. There were lots of parts to it that were really good but they were overshadowed by the bad and the silliness. I think I've only rewatched it once, maybe twice since it aired. Probably less than any other. I'm giving it 2/5

Two from me this week. I find this to be one of the most disappointing stories of the new run. It's a shame because I think Ten deserved a much better story to end on.

I so very nearly went with a 4 but instead I gave it a 3. The parts that were good were great. Some of the dialogue was excellent, the acting was top notch and I think the plot, for the most part was good, but I think the story didn't translate so well onto the screen and there were times when it all felt a bit crammed in and overpacked with characters and threads of plot. It could have and should have been better, but it didn't quite hit the mark. I've given it a 3

2/5 from me. The only reason it didn't get a 1 is because Wilf and the ending with the companions rocked. The rest was a poorly written mess.

I've gone with 3. Parts were excellent (especially any bit with Wilf in it) but the whole thing was a mess, and I really didn't like all the Master's sudden superpowers. A shrink-ray was good enough for Delgado.

There were a couple of things in this story that I enjoyed but my desire to rewatch is minimal at best. On rewatched I usually skip from The Waters Of Mars through to The Eleventh Hour. I've given it a generous 1.
