Series 2 of the revived series of Doctor Who opened with the Christmas special The Christmas Invasion on Christmas Day 2005 before beginning its full proper run on April 5th 2006 with New Earth. It ran for thirteen weeks, ending on July 8th with Doomsday. Series 2 was the first to feature David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and while Billie Piper continued on as companion Rose Tyler until the end of the season, John Barrowman did not return as Captain Jack. Recurring characters Mickey Smith and Jackie Tyler appeared throughout, with Mickey briefly taking up companion status for a few episodes. Series Two also marked the return of Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, former companion to the Third and Fourth Doctors during the 1970's. The series had the loose story arc based around the introduction of Torchwood.

But which story was your favourite?

For me there are no stories in series 2 that go above average/ok. I don't hate any of the stories but it was a pretty underwhelming season. I've gone with The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit

Sounds a bit too much like 'unsinkable.'

I'll go with the Christmas Invasion.  The first (whole episode) appearance of the 10th Doctor.  The blend of humor and seriousness of David Tennant was a change from Chris Eccleston's more grim depiction.   Afro

There's a few turkeys here, but there are some I love.  I've gone with The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit.

Hmmm, a strange season this. I remember enjoying it when I was watching it. But then afterwards there are not a lot of stories i want to rewatch. In the end I went for The Girl in the fireplace. I think it was a wonderful story (with those iconic robots). Its a season that, I think, will improve with age and distance, but some 'great moments' rather than a wonderful 'whole'

Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel. School Reunion was quite good, though, and I thought they could have built on the idea of that equation they were all working on. Sometimes I wonder how the Doctor survived all those years without K-9

Idiot's Lantern from me! I love quite a few of the stories in S2 (probably because it was where I was introduced to the Who world), and there are very few I hate. I had to decide between New Earth, The Girl in the Fireplace, The Idiot's Lantern and Fear Her.

New Earth was the first Who episode I watched, so I do enjoy watching it and I could happily watch it again and again. The Girl in the Fireplace is one I love very much, such a clever well thought out story, and I love the clockwork men! The Idiot's Lantern, although it maybe isn't that strong, the idea and story behind it that something extraordinary can come from something so ordinary is what I love about it. And Fear Her... I know I'm one of the only people on here who likes it, but again I love the ideas behind it. No way is it brilliant, but it was created at a time when the Olympics was on everyone's mind, and when kids (who I was about the same age as) were very excited about it all! In the end I went for the Idiot's Lantern Wink

Army of Ghosts/Doomsday for me

Though it was a tough choice between that and The Girl In The Fireplace.

Apart from New Earth, TCI and The Impossible Planet two parter, I can't really say I like the rest all that much.

Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel here.

When I first saw the head in the museum in Dalek, I looked up what it was, and I thought the Cybermen were an excellent enemy, and I thought it a shame that I hadn't seen any in the new series. So, naturally, when this episode came out, I was ecstatic. Loved these episodes Cheesy

I've chosen the finale though there aren't that many that I would say that I 'love', if any. I find season two to be pretty weak.

It isnt the best series by any means but the stories that are good, are great. My vote has gone to TITF but there is a couple I was considering.
