The third series of Doctor Who was preceded by the 2006 Christmas special "The Runaway Bride". Following the special, a regular series of thirteen episodes was broadcast, starting with "Smith and Jones" on 31 March 2007. In addition, a 13-part animated serial (equivalent to one regular episode) was produced and broadcast as part of Totally Doctor Who.

The series stars David Tennant as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor. In the Christmas special he is joined by Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. The series also introduces Freema Agyeman as the Doctor's new companion Martha Jones, who leaves at the end of the series due to her unrequited love for him. John Barrowman also reprises his role as Captain Jack Harkness in the final three episodes which serves as the finale. The series is connected by a loose story arc consisting of the recurring phrase "Mr Saxon", which ultimately is revealed to be the return of the Doctor's enemy Time Lord the Master, first played by Derek Jacobi before regenerating into John Simm.

Couple of great ones, but I have gone with the Human Nature two parter.

Almost a toss-up between HN/TFOB and Blink, but I've gone with the former.

Blimey this season had some good stories in it! Arguably two of the greatest ever Doctor Who stories (Blink and HN/FOB). Yet for personal enjoyment and jaw dropping excitement I went for Utopia a story that had it all - great guest stars, wonderful pacing, DT at his amazing best and a cliff hanger that is up there with the best of them.

I think the second half of the season is somewhat better than the first half. I've gone with Blink.

42. It's not the most popular story but I love it. Utopia would come second. Blink 3rd.

Hehe, I'm the complete opposite.

The only one I really like is Blink (and The Runaway Bride, but I don't tend to count the specials).

I personally think this season is awful and I don't really like any of them apart from Blink. Hehe Cheesy

I think S3 is far better than the reputation it has. It has some awful episodes but for the most part is really good. I've gone with Gridlock

Some good ones but none that I think are particularly amazing. I've gone with Blink.

I think Series 3 is totally underrated. The Lazarus Experiment is the only totally duff story. The Dalek two parter was poor but it was ambitious and had the bones of a good story. I've gone with Blink, but Utopia, Human Nature, Gridlock and 42 were all strong candidates for me also.
