Ok, so if you had the chance to play/be either the Doctor or a companion, which would you rather and why?

While I think it would be awesome to be the Doctor, I think being a random person, plucked from a mundane life and whisked off into the stars would be amazing. The Doctor must lead an amazing life but after 900 years must be slightly jaded. It would be awesome to just take a year out to travel, though I'm not sure once I was there if I would ever want to leave.

Although it would be pretty cool to be the Doctor, I think I'd rather be the companion... Less responsibility!

Companion ... simple reason - I want to meet the Doctor!  Tongue

No seriously, I think having the opportunity to be the person whisked away from my 'real' life & being shown how much more there is out there is much more exciting. Would be fun to play that.

I have spent my life wanting to be the Doctor. I did apply when Peter Davison announced he was leaving but two things scuppered my application; 1. I was only 11 and 2. They had already appointed Colin Baker.

I want to be the Doctor and I firmly believe it is my manifest destiny to do so.

I would play him as an Indiana Jones character (that would be the costume as well)

I think I'd probably like to play the Doctor. I'd be awful, but it'd be fun trying to portray all of his dimensions Cheesy

Companion for me. I think being the Doctor would be cool but if it's all you've ever known then it probably wouldn't be as exciting whereas being whisked away would be awesome.

When I was a kid I wanted to be the Doctor so badly. That hasn't really changed Smiley

I'd love to do both, but I think being a companion would be better

Definitely a companion. I think that would be far more fun.

I think that both roles would be amazing but I think I would have more fun as a companion

I'd love to actually be the Doctor; all of time and space in my hands and an almost infinite lifespan to enjoy it Smiley

I'd also LOVE to play the Doctor, and I'm convinced I'll be the first American to do so. We'll see Smiley

I've gone with the Doctor, but stick me in the TARDIS in any capacity and I will be happy!

I'd prefer to be a companion. I think it would be far more fun because it would all seem new and exciting. The Doctor never seems excited anymore.

Companion, definitely. The Doctor leads a pretty cool life at first glance, but the heartache and tragedy and responsibility...no, thanks. I also wouldn't want to be immortal or even close to immortal. I'd think by the time you reach 1200+ years old, you've got to just be tired. Of course, that's from a human point of view, but that's all I've got.

Traveling, seeing amazing things - that would be great fun. Still a lot of responsibility and room for pain and tragedy, but not nearly of the scale the Doctor himself experiences. When you've had enough - you're free to leave.
