I thought he was great - though I might be biased as I loved Mark Williams in both Harry Potter & Being Human (can't think if I've seen him in anything else). I really loved the dynamic between him, Rory & the Doctor. Comedy gold

He is also vain, ego-centric and quite mad

I actually couldn't think of a better choice to play Rory's dad - he was perfect It was a little generic (and we would know that our Dads were the type to carry a trowel or not) but that didn't detract from how enjoyable he was with Rory. As PRG says, some real comic gems in there.

I liked him. I think he was given a couple of duff lines (my balls) but the character was pretty cool and I liked his little ending.

I'm not sure what I made of him to be honest. He is back in two episodes time so I will make my mind up then. I didn't dislike him but he wasn't awesome enough for me to love him immediately as a character.

I'm guessing he hasn't been in the show before then? I liked him. He reminds me of my friends dad.

Incedently, to we ever see much from the family and friends of the people who travel with the Doctor?

Not so much with the current team, but yes we have with previous companions.

That's pretty cool. I imagine if you're going to disappear off into space for months on end then someone is going to wonder where you are. Thanks for answering me. Again

I liked him. I'm not a huge fan of dragging the companions' families into the story, but sometimes it works (most notably with Jackie and Wilf) and I think this works too.

I loved his line about not being a Pond. I thought they got the character spot on as he was really believable as Rory's dad and I think Mark Williams played him really well.

I have to agree with what's been said; He was the perfect example of how I would imagine Rory's dad to be. Genius casting.

That scene of him sitting with his lunchbox and watching the world was so nice. I really liked it. He had quite a lot of development in such a short space of time which was good.
He also seemed very fond of Amy, but not so much Rory. I wonder if there is more to that.

There's no suggestion that Rory has any siblings (although we don't really know a lot about his family) so maybe Brian always wanted a daughter. I didn't get the impression there was any actual dislike between him and Rory, just sparring.

I liked Brian, but not initially. I don't know if it was the acting or the writing but he seemed a bit stiff at first. Once he was further into the story though he was enjoyable enough and his scene sitting on the TARDIS step was lovely.
