How far apart are these stories meant to be set? The Doctor said ten months in the episode but Rory said he was now 31, and he and Amy were only 22/23 at the end of S6. Them's some big gaps!

I forsee a UNIT dating issue arising Tongue

That didn't occur to me, but you're right.  So we must be somewhere close to 2020 now - just in time to meet the other Silurians Cool

Maybe these ones are going to be closer together because I'm sure Ep5 is going to be set in the year
2018
, and going by what we know about that episode it can't be set before this one.

Is that too spoilery? Should I spoiler that?

I'm trying to look at that objectively ... & I can't see how it's a spoiler really.

I tried to be as vague as possible so people in the know will know, and people not in the know, won't, but I thought maybe telling the year would be too much. Some people can get touchy with their spoilers and I don't want anyone shouting at me.

Maybe just spoiler the year then. I know nothing about the ep & that didn't tell me anything, but yeah you could be right about extreme spoiler avoiders.

I think they perhaps could be a bit clearer with the dates. You just know large chunks of fandom will still be debating this in 50 years otherwise.

Hopefully in between watching the adventures of the 24th Doctor.

Isn't that Pondlife was about though? Filling in the gaps? They weren't dated so perhaps that was intended between TDTWATW and Asylum. Surely they won't leave huge chunks unaccounted for, but I suppose it depends on whether we are meant to see it from the POV of the Doctor or the companions. For him it could be one day after the other, but for them years apart.

I've always watched it from the POV of the Doctor rather than the companions. I think that while it may have been longer for the companions, the fact the Doctor said it had only been 10 months for him is what we're meant to go on. It could be significant though.
