Just thought I'd use the same title as the thread from last week.
Amy says something about their friends noticing they are ageing quicker than them. Does this address the age/year confusion that came up last week? They are going off on adventures with the Doctor but always returning to about the time they left which is why the ages & years don't add up.
Seems to solve it for me, just wondered what other people thought.

The different times, ages and changes are confusing me... a lot! But I would say that small comments like that could be trying to resolve it and answer some of the questions people may have about missing time!

Well that would make sense except last week Rory and Brian made a comment about how everyone thought they had gone off travelling so they must have been away from home for a significant period. And how long do these trips last? They were already at the setting at the beginning so they could have been travelling again for months, but they were only at Mercy for about 3 days, maximum. And the Doctor said he was 1200 now. How old was he before?

Hmm ... maybe there was a gap initially where they covered it with saying they were travelling but since he turned up on their doorstep at Christmas they have been trying not to be away from home too much - they have jobs & stuff so that would make sense. They could book a 2 week holiday, but actually be gone for a year or more in real time and the Doctor could return them at the end of 2 weeks. If that makes sense.
I think in TIA he said he was 1109 so significant time has gone by for him.

I think that the time lines in this show are going to confuse me a lot

I'm not sure we're supposed to think much into the timeframe for this episode. In the last one it was clearly stated and I believe in the next episode it's meant to be
Amy and Rory's 10th wedding anniversary
if rumours are to be believed, but this one didn't really have much in it in the way of indication, so perhaps it's not that much of a deal?

If that really is when the next episode is set then that is one hell of a jump from the audience/companion POV

Wait! The Doctor is over 1000 years now? It's been a century since he met Rose!?! Well that's a gap that fanfictions writers won't miss! And knowing the doctor, he probably were late each time in taking back the Ponds home .

There've been unexplained age-jumps in the Doctor's life before, such as going from the Second Doctor being 450 to the Fourth being 749 to the Sixth (or was it the Fifth) being 900 (and then not ageing till the Ninth) but they can probably be put down to pure continuity error. They also didn't affect the companions.
