I loved River in this episode. I really, really hope this isn't the last we see of her. I really think we got to see a whole other side to her here. She has spent the last 4 years being cocky and confident, all knowing and sure of herself and yet in this episode we saw her being vulnerable and uncertain, worried that the Doctor will stop loving her if she shows weakness or gets old, the subtle upset over her parents parting from the Doctor and that ending with Amy when she calls her Melody and says goodbye. It was all pitch perfect. But what I loved the most, something I've never fully bought into, was her relationship with the Doctor. They've always been overly flirty and perhaps even a little silly, but their relationship in this episode was more believeable than it's ever been for me. I've always been keen on the character but it's stuff like this that makes me hope they keep bringing her back for more.

I always love having River in a story, and as you say, there were aspects of her here that we haven't seen before.  Wonderful.

I liked when she used the "You embarrass me" line from TWORS; how they seem to almost become one another over the course of their relationship is magnificent Smiley

I think, once all of River's stories are done, I'm going to watch them in the order that they happened to her.

I always love having River in an episode as well.  I know there's been a lot of debate as to whether River ages like a normal human and speculation as to why she looks younger in the library episodes.  But it seemed to me they allowed Alex Kingston to look more her age in this episode; you could see more lines around her eyes that they hid well with makeup in her last couple of appearances.  And now that she's a professor she has to be getting close to the time where she goes off to the library.  I do hope we get to see that episode, as much as I dread the thought of River never returning.

The awesome thing about that though, is that even if we see her going off to the library, they can still show other adventures with her with the Doctor dropping in on her timeline. I want her around as long as possible. She really feels missing from this series I think.

We always need more River. I keep wanting her to be a full time companion but I think I am glad she isn't. With sporadic appearances I am always wanting to see more of her. If she was there all the time then she wouldn't be so exciting.
