I'm surprised no-one's commented on the ending yet.  I love the fact that we finally get that puzzling bit from TEH explained, two and a half series later, but my immediate reaction was that it would change Amy's attitude if the Doctor actually had come back that night.  Maybe not, though.  Perhaps what happened was that he came and told Amelia the stories Amy told him to, she fell asleep and he took her to bed, so she was never sure if she'd dreamt it.  Maybe that's where the instinct came from when she knew what to do about the whale.  And we know she loved Roman soldiers - perhaps that's why.

I hadn't thought of it affecting her really, but this makes sense, and wraps things up nicely. I rather like it  Smiley

Doesn't this contradict what happened in "The Big Bang", where he found her there asleep during the night and carried her back to bed?  Here she was still waiting outside and it was daylight.

Sorry, I'm lost. What puzzling bit from TEH?

The part where Amelia heard the Tardis again, because we thought the Doctor didn't come back until she was older

Hmm sounds familiar! Calls for a TEH rewatch I think (like I need an excuse...)

I liked the tie in. I wasn' particularly bothered by the fact it was left open after TEH but I do like that it was wrapped up anyway. Sort of brought things full circle.

I liked it, but it doesn't really make sense unless we assume that Amy had at least some knowledge of her future. It also sort of undoes the whole abandonment angle that they played throughout S5.

That was my point, really, which is why I think it must have happened in such a way that she looked back on it as a dream.

I loved this little codicil and that it was shot in a way that was very reminiscent of Sarah Jane's departure in the Hand of Fear. For me it almost tied everything up and repaired the damage the Doctor had done (after all, the whole point of Amelia's existence was that it was ruined by the Doctor not returning that fateful night).

The one little thing I would have loved to have seen was some reference (it could have even been in the afterword) that they met up with Melody in New York and brought her up as a child. That way Amy and Rory would have got some of the precious childhood moments that every parent should have. But I guess we can fill that blank in ourselves Smiley

I was hoping to see something more of Amelia before the Ponds left, but it's a shame it was just an old scene entered into the episode rather than something new.

Then again, Caitlin must be growing up.  She looked a bit older in her S6 appearances, and maybe she wouldn't look convincing as little Amelia any more.
