Melody "Mels" Pond, later known as River Song, was a "child of the TARDIS" and the Doctor's wife. She was human with Time Lord DNA, conceived by her parents, Amy Pond and Rory Williams, onboard the Eleventh Doctor's TARDIS as it travelled through the Time Vortex.

Second Place - The Brigadier

Third Place - The Master

A worthy winner and a great top three. Nice to see a baddie on the list. Shame the Brig keeps missing out on the top spot though.

I wouldn't have put the Master in the list, but I'm really pleased to see River take it again. The Brig is another excellent choice.

It was down between the Brig and River for me; glad to see they both made the top spots!

I think that's a great top three. I was half expecting to see Craig on there which would have made me groan!

I can't imagine anyone other than River and the Brig taking the top spots. Other than villains, Doctor Who isn't exactly filled with strong recurring characters which is a shame, but does make sense. With the exception of the Brig, Benton and Yates there were very few in the classics (actually, now I think of it I can't think of any other recurring good guys) and the ones we have seen in the new series have been annoying or minor roles.
