Just watching this on (lol) Watch just now - I still say it's the best of the Nu Who finales bar none.
It has loads of cameos, and the return of Davros!!

I just noticed a couple things I hadn't noticed before, which I reckon is another reason I love it -
1. Chan'Tho is in it AGAIN, this time as a UNIT operative for the Osterhagen key bit
2. 10 tells Rose "he was born in battle. He is me when we first met". So 8 became 9 in the midst of the Time War then?

Feel free to chuckle if you'd all noticed this first time round, I don't mind!

I said to the OH and said how much I loved this finale, to which she replied, completely seriously "is it because it has all of the spark the new series is missing?"
By jove, I think she's got a point!!

I always assumed the born in war part meant that he was born during the furore of the finale, which 10.5 was, and the 'me when we first met' referred to how angry a Doctor 9 was. The Osterhagen woman is someone else though. I thought they were the same at first, but its different actresses.

Couldnt agree more about the awesomeness of this finale though. Its my favourite too. Series 5 could have taken over if TBB had lived up to TPO

It wasn't her?
Blimey, I was convinced it was!!

It's a corking finale - I did enjoy the Matt Smith finale, it just wasn't awesome.

Plus, in hindsight, you have the poignant bit at the end with Wilf, when by now we all know the role he plays in 10's farewell.

I honest to god, from that moment in the TARDIS with the 'friction, fiction, fixing, mixing, Rickston, Brixton' speech right the way through to the 'Songs of Donna Noble' speech, I was in tears, and even now if I only watch that one clip it still gets me every time. How manly, I know! Tongue

I think though it is testament to the great writing and how much I was pulled in to Donna's story anc character that I always get that reaction. Donna is by far my favourite ever companion, and I have seen them all

Agreed.
Donna is the companion nobody wanted, the companion that shouldn't have worked, yet she was absolutely BRILLIANT!

I assumed the same about the born in war comment as the Doc. Everything else said in thus thread though I agree with wholeheartedly. Except the companion part. That accolade goes to Peri with Donna in second Smiley

Oh wow, when you first heard Davros' voice, before he comes out of the shadows...!! Major excitement time. The series four finale was awesome anyways, but with Davros in the mix too it rocked my world!

This is an amazing finale. I loved the series 5 finale and after TPO I thought it would
overtake series 4 but series 4 is still the best yet. It had everything except the kitchen sink and was loads of fun. Really love it

Go ahead and make the "this episode is Russell T. Davies stroking his own enormous ego" statement.

No one will mind Tongue

Things I didn't like:

TARDIS towing the Earth - really?!  LOL
Daleks were way too easily defeated - let's make them dizzy til they explode!  Yeah!
Doctor clone was a dumb idea.  A boy toy for Rose so she could have a happy ending.  Bah.

This is a classic example of what I don't like about RTD's finales - a kick-ass cliffhanger followed by a real let-down of a conclusion.

I'm afraid I'm with DAK, I didn't really like this finale at all Sad
