Did you watch with any 'non fans'? What did they think? Did you convert them or are they no more interested than before?

With it being Christmas it was far easier to get people who wouldn't normally watch to sit down in front of the telly. This year I got my brother to watch and he was quite impressed. Particularly with Clara. I think a new character coming into the show, either a Doctor or companion, makes it an easier jumping on point for people. I'm not sure that he will tune in regularly but he did seem to be enjoying it and asked lots of questions afterwards.
I asked a few friends who aren't regulars if they enjoyed it and the majority seemed to, but some weren't that bothered.

I watched with my partner. He is a bit of a fan and watches each episode but has little to no interest in the classics and I think watches out of habit more than anything else. He seemed to like the episode but he wasn't keen on the new credits. He got confused by a few parts too, but I think that's just his short attention span. He said he liked it though.

Someone I work with said she watched it & thought it was 'quite good actually.' One of my Twitter friends also used this ep as a jumping on point

I watched with the kids on the Childrens Ward who didn't have any family visiting and it was a huge success with them. Some of them who were a bit younger got freaked out by the snowmen and the ice woman and I think a few got a little confused but overall they loved it.

Everyone who I watched it with or have spoken to since said they really enjoyed it. It seems to have gone over very well this year.

Everyone I have spoken to enjoyed it. There was one who said it was 'really confusing' but that's about it. Nothing really negative. Most of the negativity I've read, which hasn't been much, has been from the regular fans who throw their toys from the pram when they don't get what they want every episode.

My brothers kids loved it but were terrified when the Snowmen got all evil looking. It was sort of funny to watch them scream

Nobody would watch with me on Christmas Day so I had to go it alone. I made a friend of mine do a rewatch with me though and she said it was cool. I had to explain some things to her that she didn't get, but she caught up quickly. She loved Strax. I had to explain that he was even funnier because of how Sontarans generally are and she seemed intrigued so I put on The Sontaran Stratagem and then (at her request) A Good Man Goes to War so she could see more of him (I turned it off before the Melody reveal though). She now loves Sontarans and wants to know what happens at the end of AGMGTW so has so far agreed to start with The Eleventh Hour as a jumping on point. I'll get her back to 'Rose' though at the very minimum. She's a total scifi geek so why she isn't already watching this show is beyond me. We definitely have a convert though.

My friend Shelley spent Christmas with me because she was going to be on her own, with the condition being that she had to watch DW and not talk through it. She managed fine. In fact, I'd say she was pretty hooked. She hasn't asked to see more but she was engrossed for the whole time and asked loads of questions afterwards. She hasn't shown an interest in seeing what came before (yet) but I think she will tune in when the show comes back.
