It's a few weeks old now, but RTD has stated in an interview that the series is on indefinite hiatus and that it will be a very long time before a fifth season is made, if ever.

Sort of sad really. With SJA off the air as well we are getting even less from the Whoniverse. S4 was a bit crap but the show as a whole definitely isn't and I think that there is so much life in it.

The thing is, the hiatus is due to RTDs husband having cancer and him not having the time to work on it, which is fair enough, but he has had so little involvement in the show that perhaps handing the reigns over to someone else and giving us more series wouldn't be such a bad thing.

That's a shame. I actually quite liked the fourth season. Not so much initially, but on a rewatch I thought it all played out really well. It may take a while, but I do hope we get more. And I agree that it wouldn't make too much difference if RTD passed it on to someone else.

I agree.  RTD will always be special as the show's creator, but DW shows that a show can flourish by being passed along.

I hope that we get to see more from Torchwood at some point. It would be a shame for Miracle Day to be how it ends. They need to scrap the American angle though. It just doesn't work.

Or at least do it like TIA/DOTM, rather than like the Movie.

I don't think it's much of a surprise to be honest. I think he was hoping for a better reaction from Miracle Day than what it got. On the plus side, Starz have already said they want more, they're just waiting on RTD so if it does come back I imagine it will be in America again.

I think perhaps it's time to put it to bed. Is it just me or does it seem that nobody, RTD, the BBC etc, are really pushing to keep the show going? It's like nobody has the effort for it. It's a shame, but theres no point putting something half arsed out.

Well the BBC defiitely doesn't seem bothered. I wasn't aware of the show when Miracle Day aired, but from what I read it was a huge success for the network and when I watched it I was blown away, so why they seemed to drag their heels with series 4 and then hand it off to Starz is beyond me. I believe they should have left it in Cardiff and if they make another series I think it should return there.

Yeah, I think bringing it back to Cardiff would be a good idea, though the production team may see that as making a bit of a step backwards.

A step backwards isn't always a bad thing.  If you're standing on the edge of a cliff, it definitely beats a step forwards  Cool

I'd definitely like to see the show make a return, but the story and characters have to be stronger than what we got in series 4. To be honest, I really wouldn't mind them going back to the story of the week format. I'd rather that until they can give us another COE, instead of putting out a not so great season long story.

After series 4 I wasn't feeling that bothered about it, tbh. When I saw COE I couldn't wait for the next season, but now I think perhaps it's had it's time.
