Awesome story, though I agree it's made better by watching it alongside Frontier. I definitely would have had it on my list. Perhaps even a bit higher

I'm not with the mojority here. I think this was one of the weaker Dalek stories. Everything that happens in it was done before and done better.

I've always enjoyed it. Yes, it was treading old ground, but it doesn't make it less enjoyable. For me, anyway.

I agree with all of the placings so far. The amazing thing about using the Daleks in a story is that (generally) any attempt at placing them as mysterious agents is (usually) totally destroyed by the title (the worst for this is Day of the Daleks but all Dalek stories are victims of this). But I love our little Pepperpots and I think this will be a fascinating list Planet of the Spiders is good, solid, Terry Nation fayre. It has all his usual tropes and this means it is highly watchable. It feels a little padded in places and the big reveal isn't particularly revealing or surprising. Nonetheless, an enjoyable little story.

I really like this one. I know it's not the most original of stories but it works and is very watchable.

This (along with Frontier) was the first ever Classic story that I watched and I loved it sooooo much. If I was doing this list I think it would have made top three. Maybe even top 2. Perhaps even top.

7The Daleks The First Doctor - 1963/4 Anyone who is a fan of the classics might look at the placing of this story and think I have lost my mind, especially when they see what I have rated higher. The first ever appearance of the Daleks is such a highly regarded story amongst fandom, and rightly so, and it is the story that really put Doctor Who on the map. But my confession is that as much as I love this story I just don't rate it as highly as some think it should be rated. Now, don't get me wrong, it's made my list because I think it's great, but while I think it would hit the top three of most people's Dalek lists, I think there are a good heap of stories that are that much better and so for that reason it comes in at 7th place. Whether you are a fan of the classics or not, this is a story that I would suggest anyone to watch. It is where it all began for the Daleks, and some would argue the show itself, and whether you end up liking it or not, it's still one that you should watch.

I'm actually with you on this. While I think the story is good, it's a long way from being the best and I tend to always feel like I have to watch it rather than I want to. I think it's held high for nostalgia and because it is the Daleks first story, rather because of the quality of the story.

I disagree, personally. I love this story and if I had done a Dalek list I think this would have been top 5 without a doubt. It's brilliant and iconic

I think it's iconic status is where opinions on this story can get skewed. It's good. Maybe even top 10 worthy. But it's not one of the best in my opinion.

I would have had it higher, definitely. I don't think it is the best, but it's better than 7th. Off the top of my head I think I would have had it at 5th. I can think of three Dalek stories that I definitely like more.

I think this is a great story and an absolute must on this list. I wouldn't have put it higher, personally, but I don't think it would have gone lower, either.
