Doctor Who has been nominated in three categories at the 2013 National Television Awards.

In the Drama section, the show itself is up against Sherlock, Merlin and Downton Abbey.

Matt Smith is nominated for Best Male Drama Performance, competing against Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock, Colin Morgan as Merlin, and Daniel Mays as Ronnie Biggs in Mrs Biggs.

Karen Gillan is up against Sheridan Smith as Charmian Biggs in Mrs Biggs, Suranne Jones as Rachel Bailey in Scott & Bailey and Miranda Hart as Chummy Browne in Call The Midwife in the award for Best Female Drama Performance.

Matt Smith and Karen Gillan won in their categories last year but the show lost out to Downton Abbey as Most Popular Drama.

If you want to vote, do it HERE before Wednesday 23rd January.

I've voted & for DW in all cases. That drama category was a nightmare though - I watch all of them.

Yea some of them were tricky. I went with DW, too.

Is it just me though, or do they seem to rehash the same noms every year? I swear these are identical to last year in most catagories.

Pretty much.

And it still bugs me that Best Newcomer is always full of soap stars - there are other people breaking all the time in other types of shows.

So do I, apart from Downton Abbey.  I voted for DW everytime I could, though.  I skipped quite a few sections, though, since ones like reality show and soap opera (or whatever posh term they called it) didn't have a "none of the above and none you're likely to come up with" option.

I voted, but only in the DW catagories. The rest of them looked crap.

I voted - and I asked my mum about the categories that I didn't know the answer to (all of them apart from the ones with Doctor Who in it).

Matt lost out to Colin Morgan in the actor category. I can live with that.

I'm not at a TV so I'm missing it, but I have just read about this. I'm surprised tbh.

Those awards last night were shocking. In every catagory. Who votes for these things? And why does an awards show covering the whole of television centre it's whole ceremony around soap operas. There are seperate awards for that already
