The Tenth Doctor was the tenth incarnation of the renegade Time Lord known as the Doctor. Unlike his immediate predecessor, who was plagued by melancholy due to his actions during the Last Great Time War, this incarnation was much more outgoing and genial, a demeanour that hid the "survivor's guilt" that had plagued him since the war. Over his life, however, the weight became much more pronounced. He was haunted by companions lost, enemies believed long-dead and events that threatened the fabric of time itself. He met his end after he absorbed a huge quantity of nuclear radiation whilst saving the life of his friend, Wilfred Mott, leading to his regeneration into his next incarnation.

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

I think it took Tennant a while to find his feet and so his performance in this was not as strong. It's not that I don't like it, I just think that Tennant puts in far better performances as the show goes on. However, I think the character was written better in his earlier stories as he wasn't being too god-like.

Watching this again earlier it really stood out for me that Tennants voice was very different. Higher pitched, I think. Other than that nothing stood out for me about his performance, but like Rose the stuff with Cassandra in his body was fun.

I far prefer Tennant in his early years to the Timelord Victorious stuff we were getting towards the end. He was great in this and got himself off to a good start I think. I don't count TCE since he was asleep for most of it.

I think they should have given him more to do in this. I wanted to see more of what his Doctor was about. I know he had already debuted at Christmas but as said above, he was asleep for most of that. There should have been more action in this for him to get his teeth into. Compare this to something like The Eleventh Hour and you see exactly why it's not a great story to start the Doctor out in in his first season.

Me too. That stuff just got silly. He became too godlike. I think the writers were starting to buy into the hype. His earlier characterisations were much better.
