When Capaldi was introduced John tweeted this:

https://twitter.com/WithJohnHurt/status/364093070913970176

"Congratulations to Peter Capaldi and to the BBC. Another splendid Doctor!"

But before that he tweeted something else. Something that is now deleted. But because I am awesome, I used the force, and knew it might get deleted, so I screencapped it. (Thank me later) Behold:

Yes there is a typo. But it sounds like they will appear together in some capacity. Do you think Hurt will recur in season 8?

I'm dying to know what the typo was meant to be, just because nothing would seem to fit there.

Aside from that, I'd say this was pretty much a given now after that. How long before he deleted it? Quick enough that he realised his own error, or long enough to be told to take it down by the PTB?

I screencapped it the night he tweeted it, and the next morning (American morning) it was gone.

So it could be either.

Well if the rumours over heard about his character are true I imagine it could very well turn into a recurring role, so I wouldn't be surprised

I've heard he will be recurring, too, but I thought it had been announced rather than speculation.

I don't know if I want another recurring character. I'm starting to really long for one off standalone stories. I don't want big companion mysteries every single time that drag on for months. Why can't the Doctor pick someone up just because he thinks their cool? There doesn't always have to be an ulterior motive. I don't want characters that pop up all the time as part of a larger story. By all means have recurring characters, but let them just be. Like the Brig. They don't have to be tied in with a long story. And I don't want all the stories to tie in together either. I want it to go from adventure to adventure without every story feeling like it is leading into more impending doom. Pandoricas and eye patches and doppelganger companions and cracks in time and blah blah blah. Mad man. In a box. Going on adventures. Not much to ask really. It worked for the first 47 years.

I thought it had already been announced that he was going to be coming back. I hope if he does though it's because the story calls for it and not just because it's a story thread that Moffat wants to drag out.

He is also vain, ego-centric and quite mad

It is an intriguing idea - and I can actually see the attraction for Hurt. It keeps him in the shop window and he can be guaranteed pretty consistently good writing. But whether its a one off (and this is a typo) or he will be making the odd appearance, he's a hell of an actor and I think he's going to bring something totally different to the show.

I thought in the short time we saw him he was a really good Doctor (or not a Doctor). And I think the Time War does need to be fleshed out more so I wouldn't be surprised to see him come back. In fact, I'd be down right excited! Shocked
