This week's NuWho story is the season 2 episode, School Reunion. Deffry Vale High School is haunted by strange, bat-like creatures at night. When the Doctor investigates, he finds an old friend, Sarah Jane Smith, already working undercover.
School Reunion was the third episode of the second series of BBC Wales Doctor Who. It continues from the prelude established in Tardisode 3.
The episode marked the return of Sarah Jane Smith and K9 Mark III, who was destroyed and replaced by a newer model at the end of the episode. Months after this episode aired, rumours of a spin-off series with Sarah Jane were confirmed by the BBC and The Sarah Jane Adventures premiered on BBC One on 1 January 2007. K9 made appearances of varying frequency throughout the series due to rights issues involving the appearance of another K9 in his own (non-BBC) spin-off series. The Sarah Jane Adventures lasted five series, ending prematurely due to Elizabeth Sladen's death in 2011. During the run of The Sarah Jane Adventures, Sarah Jane made two more appearances in Doctor Who, first in the two-part finale of Series 4 in 2008, with Sarah Jane's final appearance in Doctor Who being in The End of Time: Part Two on New Year's Day 2010.The next NuWho story will be posted on Sunday September 1st.

I've gone for 2/5. Whilst it might have been great for the Classic viewers who loved SJS, I didn't know her at this point so that did nothing for me. And as for the actual story I find it very lacklustre and the villains a bit naff. Not one I'm fond of rewatching.

When this aired I was so excited for it that I think I was sort of blind to it's faults and I would have come in here and given it full marks. However, now that I've seen it about 100 times I am a bit less excited about the return of Sarah Jane I think I see it all a bit more evenly and enjoy it a lot less when I watch it. The setting sort of fit well and the reintroduction of SJS was great, but the Krillitanes were naff and the plot was a bit weak. To be honest, I'd have been happy with 45 minutes of them all sitting in the cafe having a catch up. I've gone with 3/5

I gave it 4. I suppose the story itself isn't great, but the episode's really about the characters, and I love that aspect.

I've given it a four, based solely on all the character stuff. As Nyki says, the story itself isn't the strongest but none of that really matters. The whole thing is about SJS and the Doctor meeting again and all that stuff was absolutely spot on.

This episode was only the 3rd one I ever saw but it gave a really really nice introduction into the classic series for younger, and new audiences. I've given it a 5.

I've gone with a 4, but I think perhaps a three was a better choice after realising I agree with a lot of the comments here about how the character stuff was what made it good but as a story it was generally pretty weak.

With things like this I think you need to rate the story and not just the return of the companion. SJS coming back gets a five every time, but this story only scored a two from me

As of next week, TIQ will be running from Wednesdays and so this story will not be updated on Sunday, but instead run for an extra three days. Every story after that point will run for one week again.

3/5 from me. When I first watched it I had no idea of the significance and the story was only so-so. I've seen it a lot since but It hasn't improved much. I think 3 is fair.

Some of this was brilliant, and as others have said I thought the character stuff was far better than the actual plot of the story, so I have given this a score of 3/5

In two words: It's fine. It's nice and bright, with good lines and a creepy villain, but it feels a bit too... safe, maybe a bit rushed and Sarah Jane is ay to angsty, especially considering she's already returned to the screens twice. (I'm including K-9 and Company)
