RTD specified that he wanted this story to be set in a school and so an unnamed writer was given the job to script it. He returned a story set on an army base, said that writing Doctor Who was 'not for him' and then left the project. Toby Whithouse was then brought in with a few weeks to spare before filming to completely rewrite the script.

I'm putting it here, but this may not be a fact, but I heard that if Lis Sladen had said no to returning then they were going to ask Sophie Aldred to come back as Ace. Anyone know if this is true?
