Barring the special and the docudrama, I'm not sure there is much actually happening, but we don't have a thread to put that stuff anywhere, anyway, so I decided it can go in here. It's probably wrong but it didn't seem right to put it in the spoiler section.

If you know of anything that'll be aired to celebrate the anniversary, put it in here.

Now, the main thing that got me thinking about this in the first place is that I read yesterday that BBC3 will be airing a 50 'something' show. Not sure what though. Could be best bits, aliens, bloopers, whatever, just the top 50 somethings.

It has already been on (aired earlier this year), but there was a Pointless DW special. Really surprised they didn't hold it back for the anniversary.

That's a gameshow right?

Were they Doctor Who questions or Doctor Who guests?

Maybe they will repeat it? Didn't they do an Eggheads once, too?

It was just Dr Who guests... I thought it was going to be both guests and Who questions... I didn't even watch it properly because I didn't know of half of the people on there too... I thought it was going to be more like the DW Weakest Link they did

I imagine that they will have loads of gameshow stuff going on near the time, or perhaps repeats of the ones that have already aired. I'd like to see lots of topical shows on.

I remember a Celebrity Eggheads with a Doctor Who team.  I can't remember the line-up, though.

There is a series of programmes being shown on BBC America called Doctor Who Revisited (it's basically a short programme showing a summary of each of the classic Doctors and a little bit about them). It's intended very much as an introduction to the show but I've seen a couple of them and they are great.

Sadly not sure if there any plans to show on UK TV but if I find out, I'll post here!

They need to do something to make it seem like this anniversary is actually being celebrated because right now it doesn't feel like it.

There's a list out now with a load of things on. I saw it the other day. There's some stuff spread throughout the BBC channels and some stuff on radio too.

Looks like this will be happening - the Watch channel appears to be showing them from as from October 12th (both the documentary & the accompanying serial. So far all that is shown is The First Doctor/The Aztecs (Oct 12th 2pm), The Second Doctor/Tomb of the Cybermen (Oct 13th 2pm), The Third Doctor/Spearhead from Space (Oct 19th 2pm) & The Fourth Doctor/Pyramids of Mars (Oct 20th 2pm). If/when more appear I'll post the details.

There are also a couple of extra documentaries called The Companions & Doctor Who Explained - both on the 12th (& repeated on the 13th).

Yes, I suppose it would be Freeview - just the channels you get automatically on a digital TV. Unfortunately, it's a choice between extra channels and paying my rent  Cry

Keeping a roof over your head is much more important than extra channels - I know they would be one of the first things to go around here if money got tight again.

Doctor Who's apparently going to feature on Children in Need on the 15th November, though the story on the BBC doesn't specify anything more than that.  My guess would be a teaser from the Special.

Cultbox have revealed info about a show called 12 Again which is to have a Doctor Who special to be shown on CBBC:

Quote
Airing next month*, the special will feature Neve McIntosh (Madame Vastra), Dan Starkey (Strax), Tommy Knight (Luke Smith), Warwick Davis (Porridge), Louise Jameson (Leela) and the Seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy, alongside CBBC’s super fan Chris Johnson and impressionist Jon Culshaw.

The official synopsis reads: "Super fans join cast members past and present to share their memories of watching TV’s top Time Lord when they were young. Who was their Doctor when they were a kid? Which aliens had them hiding behind the sofa? We’ll find out about the Doctor himself, the TARDIS and the famous theme tune as we travel back to a different dimension with our celebrities as they become 12 Again."

* that will be November I assume as the article popped up at the end of October.

I just checked it out, and this week 12 Again has a regular programme on Sunday at 5pm, and a special (chefs) on Monday at 3.50.  I'm guessing the DW edition will be in the Monday slot, later in the month.  Just a matter of checking the CBBC schedules, which I haven't tended to do since SJA finished.
