I have watched this a couple times now and I still have absolutely no idea why it started going off. It usually happens when the ship itself is in some sort of danger, but it wasn't, so why? Any ideas?

I thought it was meant as a sort of mourning ringing, because the Doctor was at the time presumed to be lost on the other side.

Or maybe because Clara was trying to take the TARDIS into the pocket universe, which would have put it in danger.

Shows how much attention I pay. I don't even remember it going off.
