Simm is a tough act to follow.

Two recommendations:

1) Simon Pegg, and he's a Doctor Who veteran (The Long Game, was it?). He's got serious acting chops, but I'm hoping that being in Star Trek hasn't made him too much of a celebrity to pull it off. Too much and it taints the character a bit, I think. I don't like the idea of having super celebrities play major roles like the Doctor or the Master. You wind up seeing the celebrity and not the character, and the character's large enough as is.

2) Paterson Joseph, and hopefully I spelled his name correctly. He was the one people originally thought would be the next doctor until Matt Smith was announced. I think he's flamboyant enough to pull it off.

There is something about Patterson Joseph that really irks me. He is great at what he does, but every time I see his face I just want to punch him in the kisser.

Your first choice could be amazing though. Assuming the Trek fans allow him to do it. Im sure some of them would be arranging his kidnap and torture at the very thought Tongue

That may be because he's also a Doctor Who veteran, played the awful guy in Weakest Link on Satellite 5 against Rose. Smiley

I'm a Trek fan myself and he did a brilliant Scotty. Most people remember him for the comedic roles but remember, he was the Editor. And he did an AMAZING job in that role. I think he could pull off a very interesting Master, very dark, dry humor.

I liked him as the Editor, though I think that role may be a reason for him to not be considered. People might wonder why they look the same etc

Um...we've been there, done that. Colin Baker had a role before he became the Doctor too. Smiley David Tennant was in one of the audio productions, I forgot which one. And Lalla Ward (Romana II) was Princess Astra.

Yea I know, but I with the audio its not visible or so well known, and I also think people would be more aware these days and more likely to question it. Saying that though, Jaqueline Hill stands out like a sore thumb in Meglos after playing Barbara for 2 years

True. It was a lesser role though, so not unthinkable. I'd think landing it big as Scotty would disqualify him more which would be a shame.

I'd say Moff probably already has a name in the frame just in case he decides to ever bring him back. He seems the type to be thinking a few series ahead

I'd honestly be shocked if he did, tbh.

We have one for the next Doctor and a suggestion in there made me realise that I think Julian Mcmahon would be brilliant in the role. I dont like the idea of him as the Doctor as suggested, but I think he would make an amazing Master. Your ideas?

Julian would make a great Master he already has that background of being evil...

He'd make a good Master! He is a very good Sterling in Leverage, already plays a bad-ass..

BR, didnt you know thats because every new character is either the Rani or Romana and every new character will be played by Brian Blessed. Its the law of Who that every fan shall speculate this way until proved wrong Tongue

They really HAVE to find a way to get him back into the show somehow. Let's face it, new Who can never be said to have truly reached its potential until it has been blessed by Brian.
