The Doctor claims that everyone has the dream of the hand from under the bed grabbing them.  As far as I know, I've never had it, and I seriously doubt if it's anywhere near as universal as claimed.  Has anyone here experienced that?

Scary presences at night are usually put down to a disorder called sleep paralysis, where the brain is supposed to interpret certain neurological conditions as sensations and negative emotions.  Of course, the sixty-four-thousand dollar question is whether the sleep paralysis causes the presence, or whether the presence causes the sleep paralysis.

I've never had it, although I've always had a divan bed so I guess the fear of there being something under my bed never got a chance to get a hold on me!  Wink

I remember as a child being afraid of what might be under the bed, but I don't remember ever having a dream that something reached out and grabbed me.  Who knows, maybe I did and forgot all about it.

I don't think I ever had bad dreams of what could be under my bed when I was younger either. But maybe as DAK said I could have but I just don't remember it  Shocked

When I was a kid I used to be afraid of the Thing Under the Bed grabbing me if I didn't keep my feet under the blankets, but I've never to my recollection dreamt about it.
