This picture is doing the rounds on a few sites with lots of people speculating that it might be River Song during her first meeting with the Doctor as a child. She has been seen on set a lot and so she could have quite a big role. It is apparantly taking place during a 1920's setting. Perhaps we are in for more timey wimey stuff while we find out who River is and where she comes from. On the other hand it could be absolutely anyone. Just thought I would share

I know she is human, but I never considered her to be from Earth. I thought she would be from some far off planet or colony in the future, not the 1920's. Im going to make a stab and say it isnt her, but am happy to be proven wrong because I think it could make for a very interesting story!

Also, I think it would kind of explain her personality a fair bit. Like a cheeky father daughter relationship. Like an Annie and Daddy Warbucks type thing. She looks a bit 'urchin-y' so perhaps he takes her under his wing and shows her the stars and gives her a better life. It would explain her cheeky nature and might go a way to explaining her less legal endeavours if that is the type of Artful Dodger childhood she had. Lots of clichés in there, but it makes sense to me and I like it. Ive changed my mind about her being from the future. I want that to be her. I like my characterisation

Ooo, I like that theory too. Thou it does make me worry slightly that she names herself River because of Amy's name :/ lol

Yea, that is a good theory. Those references to Annie and the Artful Dodger actually made it make more sense. Good call

In all fairness it probably isnt even her. I hope my theory is correct though. I never guess anything right

I think there is some wild speculation going on with this one. I have seen this picture pop up a few times over the last few days and everyone seems to be screaming 'River Song' but as Peri says, it could be absolutely anyone. There hasnt, as far as I am aware, been anything to suggest this is River.

Moffat has said that he is writing the episode that explains who River is right now, not sure if that confirms or denies this rumour. Steven Moffat has promised to reveal the true identity of River Song in the next series of Doctor Who. The writer told New York Magazine that he is currently writing the episode where River Song's (Alex Kingston) true intentions towards The Doctor (Matt Smith) are made clear.
"Well, you will find out who she is and what's going on and how it all makes sense. And that will explain a number of things," he said. "I'm writing the episode right now where The Doctor finds out who she is. We're not just going to endlessly tease." Source

Youre on form tonight Sandi Id say this is big enough for a two parter, which would mean at least another 4 River episodes in series 6. Ive heard she will be in 7, but I cant remember where. It may have been on the Docs site

I love River, as you all know and I cant wait to see her back in action. I love the mystery surrounding her but I am hoping that once the Doctor knows her secret they can settle down into some normal travelling where she is just along for the ride as apposed to being a plot point. I do however, fear that her reveal may be the end of her time on the show. I seek comfort in the fact that her diary was rammed full of adventures and so wouldnt be limited to a handful of stories and will still pop up even when there is no mystery around her

Awesome find Sandi. Seems its been quite a day for news today. I love River, but I am glad to see her story being wrapped up in terms of the suspence and mystery. Too long without answers and you end up with Lost *Imagines River, Rory, Amy and The Doctor landing the TARDIS on the Island*

It may have been on the Docs site I haz broadband back and so can find stuff easier and copy/paste the info here, I hate not quoting sources so I was mainly tweeting stuff the last six weeks XD Yeah, this has to be a two parter I'd say, leading up to the mid season cliffhanger maybe? I love River so I'm pretty stoked by this news

Has there been any more word on who the little girl is, or did this one get disproven?

It was probably nothing. A ginger girl from another time turned up in a photo and the fans jumped on it. Thats my thoughts on it anyway

Though I'd love a tiny River to pieces, my first thoughts looking at that little girl go to the Mysterious Little Girl (yes that's totally her name) that knows Jack in Torchwood. She can predict the future and because he knows her through quite a stretch of time I don't think she's human, but she does dress in these sort of older times style.
Does anyone know who I'm talking about? I'll try to find a picture.

I know who you mean - she directed Jack to the second Glove, and then he met her when he was back in Victorian times too. She was never really explained.
River obviously has travelled/will travel with the Doctor at some point, so she could theoretically be from any era. We've had companions settling down in different eras before (19th to 20th century, 25th century to late bronze age, 51st to 19th-21st century etc).
