Its a horrible thought but if Jack and Gwen were to leave or be killed off do you think the show could carry on. The characters are a big part of the show, but the show is essentially about the work of the institute and with most of the team now dead and a new team being brought in for Series 4, do you think it could work?

Before this move to America I would have said absolutely not, but I guess it's a possibility now.  If it really takes off it could go CSI/NCIS style and do multiple shows for example.  Not sure if that's a good thing mind, just that it could happen.

Me either.
It would be just like all the other shows, people would watch it because everyone was watching it, not because they were a fan of the show to begin with.

I think it could, but I wouldnt be interested in watching. It would just turn into another CSI type show as someone said above

If Jack and Gwen left and the new characters took over as leads then the show would just end up being another American crime drama. Torchwood is a British organisation and with the Hub and all the tech gone, Jack and Gwen are essentially all that is left of the operation. Take them out of the mix and you no longer have Torchwood IMO

It depends. I think if we had a full established team for a while and they didnt both leave at the same time, then it could feel like a natural progression and be ok. If for example they both left in the next series, I wouldnt bother with series 5

This is what I think. If it happened naturally and over a long while then I think it would be sad but could work but if it was sudden and soon without chance for a new team to get established and feel part of the show then I would probably switch off too

One of the reasons I don't like changes in a TV show. Main characters get killed-off or written-off, I understand it's part of the contract, series, blah, blah, blah, but if you write the show with actors in mind and then you take them out of the mix, it's just wrong and weird.

Sometimes it works if it is good for the story and written properly. Other times characters just go without any real explanation or reason and it just doesnt work anymore without them

I think it could work, but as others have said it would have to be something that happens over a long period of time or it wouldnt work at all
