Out of the Doctor's companions, whose exit from the show do you think was best and worst?
For the best, I'd probably pick Peri, as long as I can pretend the last episode of Trial of a Time Lord never happened. Alternatively, I think Susan's exit was brilliantly done - they were building up to the choice all through the story, then when it can to it, they threw a great twist in.
For the worst, it would be a toss-up between Dodo (a nothing finish) and Mel ("Well, it's time for me to go." "Why?" "Er... because my contract's been cancelled.")

Worst exit has to go to Dodo. That was awful. Best exit is Donna's I would say. Though I do love the way Barbara and Ian left

I am still so very bitter about Peri's exit. Dodo also had a crappy deal. I think Rose and Donna had the best exits. As long as you discard anything ro do with Rose after Doomsday

What, no mention of "Brave heart, Tegan"?
That was awesome. And as much as he was a twonk, Adric got a great exit too.
Worst ones would include Martha for me - mainly because the whole fancying The Doctor thing was lame. I've tried to block Mel from my mind, for obvious reasons.
Didn't Peri end up a Queen somewhere at the end of Trial?

I quite liked Marthas exit. She showed her strength and walked out. The Doctor didnt have to dump her in another universe just to avoid her boiling of bunnies Donna had the worst exit from a companions point of view, though I thought it was amazing and wept like a baby

Dodo got such a short straw. She probably had the worst exit as she didnt really even have one.
My favourite is probably Donna, mainly because it was so emotional. Catherine Tate played a blinder in those scenes and acter socks off

Fully agree, CT was amazing - never expected that! Ok, I expect a slagging, but who, or what is Dodo?

Surely you know who Dodo was. She was a first Doctor companion. They were half way through filming The War Machines when the BBC sent her a telegram saying her services were no longer required and not to come back to work so after episode 2 she just dissapeared and was never in it again. They replaced her with Ben and Polly from the same story and just said that she had gone to stay with her aunt. No goodbyes or anything. She was just there one minute and then gone the next. Apparantly they didn't feel she was hip enough or something

Well you learn something Who every day! I'm actually a rarity amongst Whovians - I've never watched a full Hartnell story.

You should give them a go. Hartnell stories are some of the best imo

I agree. Best to start at the beginning, with An Unearthly Child and The Daleks. Also highly recommended, The Aztecs, The Daleks Invasion of Earth and The Time Meddler. I'd add The Keys of Marinus, but that one tends to divide people a bit.
I never particularly liked Dodo as a companion, but she deserved better than that exit.
