io9 have put an article on their site saying how The Empty planet is one of the best Doctor Who stories not to actually appear on Doctor Who. I usually think the stuff they post is a bit crap but its actually a pretty decent article. Its long so I havent posted it all, but there is a snippet below or the full thing is through the link. And it's official — Clyde and Rani not only make a brilliant team, they also have incredible chemistry and the little hints that they might wind up dating are almost too tantalizing to bear. This time, Clyde kisses Rani — on the cheek, but still. And they hold hands a bit and talk about how they have each other. I hope we're not being set up for some kind of tragic twist or something. I also loved that both Clyde and Rani are actually quite smart and competent when the chips are down, noticing stuff and working things out — including the reason why the two of them weren't taken when everyone else was.

Bit of a leap there. It was a good story, but I wouldnt say it was one of SJA's best let alone one of the best DW stories that hasnt been on DW

I agree. It was a great story but a lot of TW and SJA is better

Its a very bold statement, but not one that I agree with. The Death Of The Doctor one was far better imo

This is an interesting post, not because I particularly agree with it (I did enjoy the episode though). What is interesting, I think, is how embedded the SJA are now within the Whoniverse. The fact that this is any sort of a proposition is a real reflection on the strength of SJA.

I always really enjoy this story, but I think I agree with what others have said so far. There are many other stories which are better than this one.
