No way. Ace is awesome! Gutted she has quit the audios.

I am a little guilty that I didn't start this thread (fortunately the much wiser Blue Rose did the decent thing). I ADORED Ace. She was pretty much my perfect companion. She was smart and sassy but had that sense of wonder (On the yak-track for Eleventh Hour on my s5 Box set, Moff said the companion should essentially be a child in wonder at the marvels of the universe and I think Ace captured this). She had that 'X Factor' that made her irresistible and her chemistry with Sly McCoy was unbelievably good. She had a back story and depth, yet with one viewing you knew exactly what she was about. She was a 21st Century Sarah-Jane (I know she was written in 1987 and that is my point, she was way ahead of her time; she would just drop into Nu-Who perfectly and there are not many companions you can say that about!). Blue Rose, You Are Not Alone - I loved Ace

I like Ace a lot. I always had the feeling that Series one Rose would have been a more modern day Ace. She was so different from all the other companions and was a great companion for Seven. They shouldnt have worked, yet worked better than most

I love Ace, though I have to say that even though I liked her on screen, I prefer her in the audios. Probably because her character and story has been fleshed out more. Shame we never knew what happened to her on screen.

That's probably why I prefer S1 Rose--she reminded me a lot of Ace too then seemed to get a strange personality overhaul in the second season.
Ace is da bomb!!

My favourite companion! Someone with (as has already been said in this thread) the childlike wonder at the universe and all the new and exciting things it contains that all good companions should have, but with sufficient attitude to blow it up or beat the crap out of it with a baseball bat if she doesn't like it. But also with a troubled past and a range of insecurities to allow for a great deal of character development as time went on. Not to mention one of the best Doctor/Companion relationships the show has ever had. The two characters weren't an obvious combination, but somehow they just worked brilliantly together.
And, as an added bonus, the arrival of Ace meant the departure of Bonnie Langford. Which, let's face it, can only be a good thing.
