FINALLY got around to starting on series 3 today and was greeted with The Runaway Bride. An absolutely **** tale and much better than the first christmas special, but I was a bit dissapointed to see the santa people and christmas trees back. They could have been a bit more inventive. I am probably going to ruffle some feathers here now but I didnt think much of Donna tbh. Her last ten minutes were really nice, but she was a bit shouty and controling for my liking. Not sure how I will cope with a season of that and it kinda makes me surprised that so many people vote her the best. Not bad though and I am going to do Smith & Jones later this evening Smiley

On watching that story I think most fans felt the same way as you do, but believe me your opinion will change, as will the character Smiley

100% absolutely agreed.
The runaway Bride is difficult to watch at times because Donna is basically a boot, but I guarantee that within about 10 minutes of series 4 you'll be won over *

Only just seen The Runaway Bride? And yet to see series 4? My aren't you in for a treat when you eventually get there Grin

I loved Donna from the onset because of the dynamic between herself and 10 - so very different to Rose and as you will see with Martha ( bless her )- it was what gave Catherine Tate series 4 on a plate. ( She wasn't available for series 3)

She seems to be popular around here, and everywhere, so I just didnt expect what I saw in TRB, but I am still very excited to see the changes and a full series of interaction with Ten. Im also looking forward to Martha Jones. I read her appreciation thread and people seem to think she was great but got a rough ride. Should be an interesting few days while I watch Smiley

Only saw Runaway Bride the first time round; hated it. Must watch again at some point though.

This one gets a four from me. It introduced Donna, who is just amazing, even if she wasn't so brilliant in this. I really didn't like her the first time I saw this, but watching again after series 4 makes it so much better. It lost a mark because seeing the Christmas trees and santas again felt a bit of a cop out and killing the spider children is perhaps a bit heavy for Christmas.

I gave this one a four. I thought it was a strong story but I think it was a shame that they reused so many elements from the first special. It might it seem like a sequel of sorts but didn't really make sense given the fact that the rest of the story was so different

I gave this a three. I like it, but Donna isn't as great as she eventually turned out to be and some of the story is a bit naff, but its not too bad

I love Donna but she drove me nuts in this. The story was ok, but it could have been so much better. 2 from me

I give it a low three. The Racnoss acting wasn't too great, but the story wasn't terrible. Just ok. Plus I like Donna, even if she was a little insensitive on this one for my tastes. She mellows out.

Sorry, but Donna annoyed me throughout her entire tenure. Good they tried something a bit different to more sycophantic companions, but she was just too strident.
