A forum isnt really a place where you can have a commemorative silence. It probably isnt really somewhere where you would normally see a topic like this either. But I feel it is important that a day like today shouldnt go by unnoticed or without mention. For those unsure of the importance of today then HERE is where you can find some information. We can't really have a rememberance silence on a forum but we can take a moment to remember and pay respects, and so if anyone would like to make any comments then please feel free to do that here.

In June, 1914, an archduke of Austria was shot by a Serbian, and this then led, through nations having treaties with nations, like a line of dominoes falling, some boys from England walking together in France, on a terrible day.

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

It's also Veterans Day in the US, celebrating all the men and women who have served in our armed forces Smiley

Thank you to everyone who served.

Thank you for this Doc, an excellent idea. Without those brave enough to stand up for our ideals we couldn't air the brilliant, banal, horrific, thoughtless, selfish, selfless and silly ideas that make our society so wonderful and diverse. Every free thought I have is because they gave their lives so I could have it.

My brother was in the Army and did three tours in Iraq.  I have the greatest of respect for all the heroes - the veterans - past and present who do their jobs and give their lives so that we can have the lives that we do.
