He did say how he enjoyed working for a different range

I think that's part of the problem to be honest. He always seems a little cagey when it comes to fandom, but whenever he discusses the show he always talks as though it is a show made solely for children which just isn't the case. I think he was perhaps unprepared for the amount of older fans there are (a lot of whom probably bug him about the show whenever an opportunity arises), but whereas other actors in the role embrace that, CE always seems quite uncomfortable about it.
