Russell Tovey has just confirmed he's going to appear in the news series. He didn't say which story, but I think I saw something earlier about it being the 'Baskerville' one  Cheesy

EDIT - he's also just tweeted this:

Hound of the Baskervilles... And I am playing Henry... Good times x

Very interesting piece of casting! In the 1958 film where Peter Cushing played Sherlock, Christopher Lee played Henry Baskerville - so I think we are in for a real treat. I am very excited at seeing Cumberbutch, Tovey and Freeman put a contemporary spin on this.

Hound of the Baskervilles was my "first" Sherlock story and this is great news Smiley

Dang seeing them filming a couple of scenes! I want to watch it now!!! Grin

Yeah I don't mind MR generally, but it just didn't seem like a good fit for the role or show to me. Would have reserved final judgement til I'd seen it though. This choice seems better  Smiley

Although this is a general 'some of what's coming up on BBC One' video I thought I'd pop the link in here because it features a clip from S2 of Sherlock:

You can also read the blog post by Danny Cohen if you so desire.

Well worth the wait.
Brilliant, even though I still think Mark Gattis can't act.

Now, can Mr Moffat please inject this much talent, heart, enthusiasm etc into the good Doctor?

Did Gatiss appear in the episode as well? Why does he always need to do that?

I loved it =)
Only saw 3/4 of it and didn't really get the plot, though, because of all the livestreams breaking down.
Sometimes not living in the UK is just unfair.

Did Gatiss appear in the episode as well?

He plays Sherlock's brother - has done since S1 ep 1. I actually really like his performance as Mycroft, but each to their own.

I thought last night's ep was fantastic. Loved all the little nods to the original stories  Cheesy

As much as I loved it, I truly feel that Gattis pulls me out of the story every time he's on screen.
His "acting" was fine for a random & odd show like League of Gentlemen, but for a serious drama, no thanks.
As PRG says, to each their own, he just really isn't my cup of tea in the slightest.

Still, they're tackling Hound of the Baskervilles next week, and he isn't (or at least shouldn't be) in that!

What did everyone think of Hounds of Baskerville then?
I thought it was the weakest episode they've done yet, but I may have been over excited as I love the original story.

However, I think it's very telling of the state of UK drama, that when Sherlock is less than it's best, it is STILL the best thing on TV!

Andrew Scott just won the Best Supporting Actor award at the BAFTAs for his performance as Moriarty.

So happy for him  Smiley
