He never gets the love he deserves, if you ask me. Coming in and taking over from Troughton must have been a tall order and I don't think there has ever been a Doctor, before or since, who loved the role quite as much. He absolutely lived and breathed it, right up until his death. But on top of that, he was bloody brilliant at it. He had to come in to a show that had seen huge budget cuts as well as share the screen with an even larger recurring supporting cast and still managed to keep all eyes on himself. Judging by some of the DVD extras and stuff in various books, the BBC really didn't value him as it should have, expecially considering how much he turned the show around and put the viewing figures back up to heights they hadn't seen in years. Definately one of my favourites. Top 3 for sure.
