Got the dvd for Xmas & I've never seen it before - can't even remember reading about it in the classic series ep guide on the bbc site!

Saw it quite a while ago and seem to remember it being rather good. Have just acquired the dvd myself so will be rewatching it very soon.

I'm watching it at the moment, saw parts 1 & 2 already, I thought the beginning was a bit boring but it becomes better as you go on.

This one seems to get a few mixed responses but I really like it. Sarah Jane is great throughout and its a good enough little story. It opens season 14 (I think) and does well enough though some of the later stories are better. I think you will probably enjoy it if you like the Four/SJS pairing

I think this is a fine story - slightly shaky history, but otherwise fine. Incidentally, it's the only classic story where the language issue comes up - the Doctor simply says it's an ability he has that he shares with his companions.

Well worth a watch I think. Not one of the best of the TB era but its a good story and its easy to follow

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

Nice to see it's getting good responses, I need to make time for it soon - A vote from Double P seals it for me! - I'm a little "who'd out" just now thanks to The Christmas Carol & Doctor Who Day today on Watch!

I loved the Masque of Mandragora - it has, after all, one of the best Tom Baker throwaway gags in the history of all the Whoniverse...
'You're talking absolute Bosch, Hieronymus'
It was like the whole script was building up to that glorious joke!
Aside from that the story rattles along at a good pace, there is a clear plot and it benefits from great acting, an unusual location and a cameo by Peter 'Zen' Tuddenham. I think its a little gem that often gets overlooked.

Great little story. Visually one of the best I've seen from that era, with a perfect location (somehow Portmeirion manages to look more Italian than Italy ever could) and really well-made sets and costumes. A superb supporting cast with no weak links and some brilliant performances from John Laurimore and Norman Jones. I've always really liked the fourth Doctor/Sarah Jane combo. This isn't quite up there with their very best, but it's pretty damn good all the same.

I honestly don't know, I've still to find time to kick back & watch it. Sounds a good one, from what people are saying here!

Not very recent - I think it was late 2009 or early 2010.

I barely remember this story- it must've not made a big impression on me. I remember really pretty scenery and then an altar at the end. I also remember enjoying it pretty well. This is one I'll have to go back and watch sometime.
