A lot of my DW friends and I have talked about this a lot. Who would you rather be, the Doctor (or just a timelord in general) or a companion and they never understand why I say I would never want to be the Doctor. Not because of responsibilities or life stuff, but just because every time there is a new companion, everytime they get their first glimpse of the TARDIS, or an alien, or another planet, that look they get in their eye, the excitement of the travel and the adventure just grabs me and pulls me right in. Being the Doctor would be cool, but he has seen and done it and can do it when he likes. To be a companion and have that adventure and to never take for granted its possibilities just appeals to me that much more.

So what would you choose, and why?

I'd rather be the companion too... you could learn so much from the Doctor... whereas being the Doctor might get a bit boring telling people the same things, but at the same time it might be cool being the Doctor as you can see different people's reactions to different things!

I'd deffo rather be the companion!  Grin

Companion for sure - the Doctor, much as I like him, knows pretty much everything (well at least from our history he seems to - other planets can surprise him I guess). The companion gets to see, experience & learn new things every day. Awe & wonder on a daily basis - I'd like that!!!

I thought the thread was going to be about 5's companions from the title...more coffee needed I think Tongue

I think I would rather be a companion, right up until it was time to leave the TARDIS and settle back down into the hum drum of normal life.  Then I would wish I was the Doctor and could stay exploring the universe, lol.

Actually I had a similar moment of confusion when I first saw that until I came in and read the thread - I've been in & tweaked the title now so it should be a little clearer!

I have spent many years actually believing that I am the Doctor and I will not shift from that position. Incidentally has anyone seen my fob watch?

I would love to be a companion to the Doctor. Seeing Amy's story and her reaction when she first stepped into the tardis seemed magical. The Doctor has seen and done it all, but to see all of the universe through brand new eyes surely cant be beaten

I've always considered the TARDIS a companion so that would be my choice Cool

So while the rest of you would be shown the wonder and then 'dumped' Tongue...I'd stay with him for ever and ever..
oh and I'd get to regenerate too Wink

I'm really not sure!
I'd love to be a Time Lord, but having to meet loved ones and then knowing you're going to lose them is too hard.
