Another quote from the SM article in the christmas Radio Times

"The doctors life will change forever and a good man and a hero to many will die."

Again lots of ideas floating around but what/who do you think it means?

River mentioned that she killed a good man and that everything would change for the doctor at the end of series 5 so provided no one starts hauling in any speculation around spoilers concerning the subject I think we should be safe.

I maybe wrong but I don't believe it is The Doctor River kills and I think what changes him forever concerns Amy/Rory. I also think that the two are linked.

Would River have told The Doctor what she had if it was him she killed? It was almost a spoiler on her part - not in character at all Undecided

Seeing as the truth about Amy will also be revealed, maybe she is the Master revived, who changed his life and gets killed by River 'cus she thought he was still evil.  Grin

I think she kills her father. I don't know who her father might be, and to anyone else he might be the most ordinary person ever, but to her he could be the greatest man she ever knew. I dont think she kills someone as obvious as the Doctor though

I dunno, River doesnt really strike me as the 'Daddy's Girl' type. I suppose that suggestion is as good as any though, and I agree in not thinking she kills the Doctor

Im aware I am probably clutching at straws, but I would choose anyone over the Doctor as the man she kills. Its screamingly obvious. Too obvious for it to be him who she kills

That's my thinking - the same as her being married to the Doctor being far too obvious.  Of course, Moff might be pulling a double bluff on us.

I hate to even suggest this but what if River kills Rory?  He is a great man - who but a great man would have waited 2000 years like that for the woman he loved?  And technically the Doctor isn't a 'man', he's a Time Lord.  And it would have great impact to both Amy and the Doctor and change them both forever.  But maybe that is too obvious too?

Anyway, I hope I am wrong because I love Rory!

I really hope not. Its been done too many times now. I will only accept Rory dying again if its done every single episode like in South Park with him back to life by the start of each episode without so much as a mention Tongue

Rory as a Kenny? Well he has the hoodie  Grin

No....I can't see Rory being 'killed' again. That would just be too cruel and probably ruin any chance of Amy being redeemed as a character imo. Aside from anything else what would bring it about? Unless River really is on the darkside at that moment in time and Rory is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Undecided

I have to admit that crossed my mind too. Although his character would have to be very quickly established as being good and a hero to many for it to impact on the Doctor/us.  Undecided

Unless it is a Historical figure that we have not seen on the show yet but is already established to be a great man.  Might be stretching it a bit though.

Maybe she kills the Doctor Clone, but thinks it is the real deal. It might not make the most sense in the long term but could explain why she is in prison in the first place?

I considered that too but ruled it out on the basis that the storyline would probably be too contentious/complex. Undecided

Again I can't see this being the case. It just doesn't sit right that River - who/whatever she is -would kill the Doctor. The real deal or otherwise. I keep going back to when/how it was disclosed. What was said. River sounded remorseful and clearly regretted her actions but not in a way I would imagine she would express had she killed the Doctor - someone she is so obviously deeply attached to. Besides she knows what he is /that he can regenerate so can't be 'killed' Undecided
