If you're a fan of Doctor Who, you have, guaranteed, at some point fantasized of building your own full-size Dalek to ride around in. But it's a daunting task — how do you even know where to start? Try here: the official plans for building your own Dalek, straight from the BBC.

Where did these come from? In the early 1980s, a fan wrote to the BBC requesting the plans for a Dalek so he could make his own. Incredibly, the BBC's Doctor Who Production Office wrote him back with the plans, with the only condition that "the constructed Dalek will be used only for personal uses."

The plans are from 1973, so they're really for making one of the original series Daleks and not the Daleks from the new series (or the reboot of the those Daleks). Still, the design is pretty similar, so it wouldn't be too hard to modify them.

I'm impressed at how detailed these are Smiley

Oh yay - well done. Mine is a supreme too - not sure if there was more than one available. An Ironside would've been cool.

Oh I wish I had known about these. I would have got the magazine just to build it. Do you have pictures of the ones you made?
