This was just just tweeted by DWMTweets
"DWM is sad to report the death of Michael Gough, who memorably played the Celestial Toymaker (1966) and Councillor Hedin (1983). He was 94."

Sarah Jane Smith: No.The universe has to move forward. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it's a world, or a relationship. Everything has its time. And everything ends.

He was Alfred in the Batman films too. Such a shame.
Wasn't he married to Anneke Wills (Polly) at some point?

I just saw that. I suppose, at 94, it could be expected, but it's still sad.

He was Alfred as far as I was concerned.
And he was damn good elsewhere - check him out as Arthur Holmwood in the original Hammer Dracula, for example.
RIP.

That's sad - IMDB gives her D.O.B. as 1957 (54) so she was no age either. She was a staple of UK TV sitcoms and the like.

Me too, I was expecting him & Lis Sladen to come up one after the other - was disappointing.

He didn't get mentioned throughout the first half of series 6 either so I am guessing he won't be now which is a huge shame if you ask me

Roy was possibly more famous for his roles as Zippy and George in Rainbow, but he will always be a big part of Doctor Who history. Another sad loss...

Being a relatively recent DW convert it is indeed Zippy & George I know him best for. Rainbow was a big part of my daily life when I was little. Sad indeed

I was never a Rainbow watcher (too old to watch as a child, not old enough to watch as an adult) so I know him mostly as a Dalek voice.
