I have to say that I don't like the way this is heading. I appreciate the episodes concerned were shot in America and that they probably want to milk that for all it's worth but airing any of it BEFORE the UK?

Allowing the rest of the world to air at the same time is progress - putting them before the UK is retrograde and quite possibly detrimental as far as I'm concerned to the focus of the show in the future.

I can hear the licence fee/who pays debates from here Shocked

It's been confirmed that America are airing episodes 1 & 2 a week apart, so whichever way we air them, the UK will still be ahead Smiley

Jeff Mash's CV says that ep 2 is airing on Sunday 24th, so it looks like we are getting 2 eps on the opening weekend after all

I hope not. I know its the same amount of episodes in total, but its shortening the length of time in which we watch them. The longer the better I say

They'll have to make sure they make it really clear in the advertising if they are showing it on Saturday & Sunday - not for people like us who will be totally clued in - but for more casual viewers. I know plenty of people who have got caught out when they've done that with other shows.

I'd rather one a week myself too  Undecided

That is true but it will still mean one extra week that we won't have any NEW DW to watch. And I WILL BE pedantic if I want to Tongue

Space have confirmed that series 6 will premier in Canada on the same day now too. Not sure if we have any Canadians round here, but thought it was worth mentioning Smiley

Thing is if they decide to put on the second episode the next day it means that the series will finish quicker and we don't want that do we?Huh?

Its a bit of a balancing act isn't it? On the one hand I want the series to last for ages but on the other I'm not good at waiting and would happily watch all of season 6 in one go lol. I think a double header does make the launch seem like more of an event and I think it will do a better job of capturing those floating viewers who might forget otherwise. So on balance I think its probably a good thing.

And we do have Torchwood to get us through those barren summer months. To those of us who grew up in the Sci-Fi wasteland of the late 1980s this truly is a golden age Smiley

DWM says 23rd and 30th of April so no double banker or weekend of Who. I'm kinda glad though tbh.

Will we be taking a week out for Eurovision?
