Are you looking forward to the Christmas special? Why?

Personally I can't wait for the simple reason that it's new Who.

Remember no spoilers here please. We are watching!!!

I have really grown to love the idea of a Who Xmas Special. It gives me something to really look forward to (TV wise obviously). I wonder how far Moff will make this a stand alone story or whether it will contribute to an as yet unseen arc! Bring on the fake snow is all i have to say Smiley

How can you be a fan of DW and not look forward to the christmas special ? Cheesy Having said that last years was a nightmare Cry but then it wasn't meant to be 'joyful' although it did have the lovely Timothy Dalton in it so mustn't grumble toooo much Wink

So yes...definitely looking forward to..kind of hoping it will not be part of any story arc though....fancy a nice adventure with a beginning middle and an end...oh and snow Wink

I cant wait. Literally counting down the days. The sooner it comes along the better. I love that we have hardly any spoilers, but at the same time I really want some spoilers. Christmas cant come soon enough

I am now very excited for the Xmas Special. I love Xmas Specials more than any other aspect of Xmas TV. If I tell you that Xmas TV is my favourite tv of the year you will understand how much of a big deal this is. And, uniquely for me, I am going to keep spoiler free so I can watch it completely fresh!

Its an experiment... thats all! I still rely on 'The Doctor in The Tardis' to keep me fully abreast of all of the latest on Season 6 & 7 of the new series, plus developments on 'Torchwood goes to Hollywood' and my new fascination with 'The Sarah Jane Mysteries'.

It may sound weird but it has honestly been 5 years since I watched a Dr Who that I didn't know every single plot twist. It made me seem like some sort of Who-Jedi at work 'What i think will happen is there will be another timelord watch like the Doctor had and the master will be hiding in it..' etc but ultimately people just prod you and call you names like "geeky" or "speccy four eyes" (I don't even wear glasses). So for this Xmas special I am just going to put my fingers in my ears and hum very loudly when people talk about it. (I know the magnificent Michael Gambon is in it but that is what I call a 'Radio Times' spoiler. If it can be printed in the Radio Times then it doesn't count as a spoiler).

Believe it or not, Im not a massive fan of spoilers personally. The idea for the spoiler site came about as a place I could talk about the show with other fans in peace because I was tired of places that treated you like dirt with people who thought they had some sort of monopoly on what could and couldnt be talked about etc, and I knew 2 people who know some of the secret stuff thats going on and are willing to share some of it with me, so TDITT was born. Way off topic, but still. Now I cant avoid the spoilers unless I close it all down Cheesy

You certainly can't close it down. It would be like Jack Nicholson deciding to stay put in One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest. "Well Nurse, the meals are awfully nice and they have Sky HD in the main recreation room.."

Cheesy Well, I plan to keep going, so theres nothing to worry about.

I also need to reread that book. Its been about 8 years. Probably that long since I saw the film too

I can't wait. This will be my first Christmas special. I just hope I can wrestle control of the tellybox to watch it.

You gotta get in early. While everyone else is scoffing you must seize the controls and steadfastly refuse to give them back. Take hostages or threaten arson - i find either of these are successful to supress even the hardiest of resistance.

I have several back ups in place for just such an eventuality. I've designed my house like Castrovalva so that all who come on Xmas day keep ending up at the Portreeve's House with Mr Bronson!

I am quite obsessive about my Xmas specials - more so even than season finales. I think its because I missed 'The Parting of the Ways' because I had to go to my cousin's 30th. I was beyond anti-social and we hadn't seen each other for 4 years. He came up, gave me a hug and told me how much he missed me. I replied "Why the f...lip did you pick tonight? Any other night of the year but this one!" But actually he did me a favour - because I now know that the season finale will be shown about 80 times on BBC3. But there is something about the Xmas special which I see as my reward for having endured family duties and over-eating.

I quite agree. The Christmas special should be enjoyed on airing, without interuptions of any kind. Children need to stop thinking that Christmas is a time to play with loud toys and accept that the adults need to enjoy Who in peace Grin
