The Gatiss thread has got me thinking. Which other writers would we like to see debut for Doctor Who in coming seasons? One of my all time favourite writer and one Torchwood peeps will be familiar with is Peter J. Hammond (I know he has a Big Finish adaptation but I think this thread can be extended to Big Finish Writers who haven't penned a TV who). Is there anyone else in the writing game that you'd like to see but hasn't yet done the decent thing?

Christopher Nolan (dreaming)
I think Joss Whedon might have been tempted during the RTD era.
Stephen Fry after his last script was abandoned?
Kenneth Branagh?
Clutching at straws now!

The Doctor: Do you know like we were saying, about the earth revolving? It's like when you're a kid, the first time they tell you that the world is turning and you just can't quite believe it 'cause everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it.

As a romantic, I'd love to see Terry Dicks saddle up for a New-Who episode!

Pullman would be absolutely top drawer - couldn't agree more. Also I think Chris Nolan is on fire with his last two films and would do a cracking Timey-Wimey job. I also wonder how Terry Pratchett would fare given his views on Deus ex Machina Who etc

Another 'Old Who' writer whose work i really enjoyed (Robots of Death, quite a bit of Blake's 7 as well) is Chris Boucher - would love to see another one by him. I really am stuck in the late seventies. I'm off to listen to Leo Sayer on my 8 Track.

Much the same as the Dream Guest topic, who would you like to see write an episode or two in the future? Personally I would love Howard Overman to give it a go. Misfits is one of my favourite shows atm, and I also love his Merlin episodes

If I was to go with my 'absolute dream but never going to happen' writer then I would love to have Joss Whedon come in and do a two parter. A two parter specifically because his stories always take a little while to get off the ground but when they do they are little short of brilliant.
If I was to choose someone a little more realistic I would probably agree with Howard Overman

Joss would also be a dream come true, or even Jane Espenson

I'd love to see Ken Follett write a historical story set in the middle ages. Anyone who's read his Kingsbridge duology - The Pillars of the Earth and World Without End - will know what I'm talking about for sure.

Joss would be awesome. Also, since he's written a DW novel, Mike Moorcock.

I'm not original I know, but they are great choices. Oh and Stephen Fry. Its been bugging me since his story didnt get made what he could have done with the Doctor so I think he should get another chance.

YES!! I hadn't thought of him at all Pillars of the Earth was outstanding, and is one of the reasons that I have faith that TW can be pulled off by Starz. Oh and Stephen Fry. Its been bugging me since his story didnt get made what he could have done with the Doctor so I think he should get another chance.
He's a very busy man these days but I'd love him to find time to finally do a story too. What's the novel he did about going back in time to make sure Hitler wasn't born, I forget. Brilliant stuff thou
