Fans of BBC’s Top Gear, Doctor Who and music can rejoice today after a range of official audio devices have been launched at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011.
Speakal, the guys behind the iconic iPig docking station have teamed up to create some authentic designed speakers in collaboration with the BBC. Both the Top Gear (featuring the Stig) and Doctor Who speaker are said to feature ‘amazing sound’ combined with ‘outlandish’ style. From these pictures we’d have to agree with the aesthetics side but will have to wait for a full review on the sound.
If past models are anything to go by the sound will be excellent, in fact the iPig (a similar sized dock) delivers quite a punchy base line with crisp highs and deep lows, quite impressive when a gadget looks good and performs well. We just hope these two new docks sound as good as they look.
Speakal informed us that the T.A.R.D.I.S speaker produces powerful bass and incorporates Bluetooth playback so you can hook it up to your Smartphone or compatible mp3 player.
Speakal CEO, David Solomon said “Top Gear and Doctor Who have some of the most die hard fans of any program in the world”. “We’re proud to offer their fan base these unique and lifelike replicas of their favorite BBC icons” added SolomonLINKI need to own this!!

I got a face palm earlier on. I deserved it. I also feel I deserve one of these snazzy TARDIS Docks and I know it's gonna be overpriced but I still want it. Damn you desirable gifts. Why wasn't this out for Xmas so I could have asked for it instead of a lifesize mock up of myself made entirely out of praline

*noms praline Adric* This looks great, why the hell is it an old TARDIS rather than the new one thou

Anyone know what kind of international availability we'll have on these?

I think they are being released in the US first and then the UK. They are being made by a US company I think but as with a lot of Doctor Who stock in the US you may find that it is of limited availability so you may have to import it if you don't get one quickly.
I have heard that they will retail at $160-$200 in the US but no news about prices for the UK yet.
