I know I am a little bit late to the party with this one but after constant nagging I finally caved and started watching this. The finale of series one has just finished so I thought I would see if there are any fans on here and get peoples thoughts.
I think one of the things that initially put me off was the sudden over indulgence with vampires on tv and books and film. Aside from Buffy and Being Human I now can't abide to see them in anything, but I was nagged to watch and I am pleasently surprised by how good it is. It is brilliantly written and acted and all the little subplots and stories have been really good. I'm not keen on most of the vampires, particularly the lead, but aside from that I am quite excited to see series 2.

I only started watching recently and I really like it. I've downloaded and watched all three series and it gets better each series and has some brilliant arcs. Definately worth sticking with.

LOVE True Blood!!!
Excellent show.
Series 3 starts shortly on FX - 14th Jan I think - but I've already seen it back in the summer.
I absolutely loved series 3, without spoilers I'll say that personally I thought it kicked series 2's ass big style.
Oh, and the theme tune is awesome!

I pretty much got through all of series 2 yesterday. It was far better than series one so I am excited for series 3 now. I will make a start on that tomorrow

I love True Blood. Can't wait for the next season, especially if what happens in book four happens in season four

I was unsure about this at first because of the excess of vampire shows and films recently but it really is head and shoulders above the rest. Brilliant scripts and stories coupled with some brilliant actors. Its well worth watching. I can't wait for series 4

So we're all up to date on TB here then? Ok, can I put this out there....anyone else think the Maenad plot was awful? Loved the Dallas plot, but MaryAnn just turned me off the show.
Thankfully series 3 was back to a high standard.
I'm really not a fan of Tara though.
Which part of book 4 would that be, Chrissy? I can think of a few things....

SOOKEH! I hate Tara too. This is what I think of her: I thought last season was kind of boring and that nothing happened in the finale, but I'll still watch the next season. If Anna Paquin keeps taking her clothes off, Im going to keep watching.

I loved series 2 but it felt like they were cramming so much into the episodes that they didnt stop to make sure if a lot of it made any sense, particularly the last 2 or 3 episodes. Series 3 I am only half way through but I am loving it so far. I am up to the part where Bills maker bites Sookie in the barn thing after they escape the mansion. I'm reletively new to the show but I am whizzing through it. I love Tara BTW

Hahahaha it was so over the top with the blood shooting out of her mouth I watched it last night. The Sookie glowy stuff is bugging me now. Just want that revealed. I got through a couple more episodes last night but then was shattered and had to knock it off. I am up to the part where Russell just killed the newsreader. I think I have three episodes left now, maybe two, but it is all shaping up to be a great finale.

Absolutely read the books. They are much different from the TV show, and in many aspects I like the books better. (Although I love being able to see Alex Skarsgard on screen) Book 1 is very close to season 1, but season 2 kinda changes things a bit from book 2 and season 3 changes things from book 3 even more. Who knows what they will do with season 4! It's all good stuff though

I've read that series 4 will only be 'very loosely based' on book four and that loose basis will mainly be the inclusion of witches

I have no idea how the arc of the series will play out, but as for Sookie I hope its revealed soon. I thought at first maybe she was an angel, but then I figured if there were angels in the show and she was one, then she probably would always get as beat up as she does. But the glowing is a bit like Tinkerbell so then I thought maybe a fairy, but then my bf said that that was stupid, so now I think, because of the post above about witches, that maybe she is a witch, but just doesnt know it.
