I didn't think it was the best opener, but it was a good setup for the season, as Chrissy says. The stuff with Tara was all a bit though. I haven't watched this weeks yet

Ep 4.2 was great! They totally made up for the lack of blood & boffing in 4.1!!!
Remember the series 3 cliffhanger for Bill? Well, you see the outcome & OH. MY. EFFING. GOD!!!
Also, as Double P mentioned, after S3 it's nice to see them try to redeem Sam as he's one of the best characters on the show.

I am back up to speed with this one finally and back on American timing. I watched the first episode of the fourth series and then stopped and then watched all the others at the weekend in one long run. I am much prefering it to series 3 so far. The story is more steady (if even further from the plot of the books), the cast is stronger and the characters have calmed down (with the exception of Bill who is becoming unbearable) I also ain't too keen on the Hoyt/Jessica stuff because I really liked them as a couple and I thought it was a great example of a cross being relationship that could actually work. Nan and Pam are excellent as always so I am pleased they have been promoted to regular and I much prefer spazzed out Eric to psycho Eric. Sookie however is becoming so much more unlikeable with every episode. What happened to the classy self righteous girl of the pilot. She's just a gobby skank now.
I love all the witch stuff and think that story is being played really well, though I think the one main issue with TB is that it doesn't flesh these things out enough. They do it every series. Its like they knew series 4 was going to be about witches, so they quickly rammed them in at the end of series 3 so it doesn't seem like they came out of nowhere. They did the same when they needed to intro the wolves etc and that have done it again with Lafayette. They have decided in one episode he is a medium, then by the next he is suddenly seeing ghosts everywhere, then by the next he is running around posessed and stealing babies. It, and all the others, would have been more believable if they had been built in earlier on and then slowly built upon before hitting the bigger stories. I'm not even sure if that all makes sense.
Oh and the stuff with the Panther people and V'd up Andy is grating my nerves too!

Oh my god Karen, you can't just ask someone why they're white!

Completely agree with Roranicus about Lafayette. The stuff going on with him is seemingly out of nowhere in an attempt to keep him involved with the story line. I am not liking it, although I have to say that Nelson Ellis is doing a great job. It's not his fault that the script is silly And yes, Andy needs to get over the V thing already!

I must confess, I'm almost ready to ditch this show. The ghost/witch plots are absolute garbage - possessed Lafayette with a baby's skeleton? That's just wrong. Tara continues to be Jada Pinkett, they are shoehorning in more & more preposterous plots to keep the ever growing ensemble busy and the show is seriously suffering for it.
So Sam has a werewolf noising him up? Big woop. He's just a werewolf. Why doesn't Sam just turn into a fricking lion or something & take him out?
The only thing I find interesting is the vamp politics etc, but it's not getting enough screentime. and from what I hear, the ghost stuff isn't going away either.
Sigh.
Also, and never thought I'd say this, but anyone else fed up of Sookie getting her kit off?

I havent managed to watch last nights episode yet, but up to now I am quite enjoying series 4. Some of the stuff is a bit silly, especially the the Lafayette/Jesus/Medium/Demon stuff, but on the whole I am liking this season.
As for Sookie, she is doing my absolute nut in!

So, the finale was last night & I have 3 episodes to watch. Can I be bothered? Not particularly. That said, there's on thing from the finale that may change my mind....

Just watched the season finale. It was a bit of a slow burner. They should have just extended episode 11 for 15 minutes and added the good stuff in. I'm really not happy about
Nan dying
That really p!ssed me off. I just know that the actual finale part will be retconned in S5 though. No way will they follow through on that.
Best part of the episode was Pam's 'Fairy Vag!na' speech. I was rocking with laughter at that. She really is becoming one of the best characters on the show.

Don't get too excited. She did an interview yesterday to say she just has signed on for S5, so it's not the end. Best part of the episode was Pam's 'Fairy Vag!na' speech. I was rocking with laughter at that. She really is becoming one of the best characters on the show.
Best speech of the whole series! Pam is awesome

No, don't give up. She has been a far better character this year and a lot more watchable. I always liked her, but even I can see the improvement.

Anyone tuning in for the new season this week? I can't wait! Because it always airs out of season it always feels like such a long wait.

I didn't think much of the first episode. Nothing happened. They just used it to wrap up last season which was a bit of a waste. I've not got around to this weeks episode yet.

Episode two wasn't much better. If it was a full length series I wouldn't mind so much but with only 12 episodes they need to pick up the pace. I'm bored already.

I'm still enjoying it but I think it's best days are behind it now. It doesn't have the energy and excitement about it anymore.

Episode 3 was far better than the ones before it. It finally feels like they are getting into the story now. Great cliffhanger ending too. There's a lot of focus on Pam this season which is good because I think she is great.

It's definitely picking up but it's been a bit slow. If they cut out a lot of the nonsense they could have put the important stuff in the first two episodes. I suppose it's just the way the shows goes though. It's only technically been about 3 months since the first episode in show time.

I'm over it now. This season has been boring and drawn out. They only have short seasons so there really is no excuse to spend so much of it with filler.
