1  Fanatical For Who / Appreciation Threads / Re: Sarah Jane Smith on: April 26, 2011, 12:32:31 am
my daughter adored her (as did I) and said she far preffered the sarah jane adventures to Doctor Who during the specials year, she says it should be left with the last episode being "goodbye Sarah Jane Smith" - I cannot argue with that

I am coming around to the idea that he might be the hottest man to ever live!

4  Fanatical For Who / Loathing Threads / Re: Dislike for Amy Pond on: December 05, 2010, 11:23:06 pm
Beyond redemption for me, I don't think the actress has the chops to deliver the sort of perfomance required to turn my opinion of the character around.  With River, at least I think Alex Kingston could, but the writers won't deliver that.  Amy has made me like season 2 Rose, I never thoiught I'd type that!  Shocked
5  Fanatical For Who / Loathing Threads / Re: Dislike for Moffat on: December 05, 2010, 11:18:01 pm
Moffat's Who has expanded my interest in other shows and fandoms.  Supernatural as a "grown up" show and Merlin as a family show both resonate better with me.  I think it's a shame as I believe Matt Smith has potential that will never be truly seen.  Looking forwards to Primeval retirning too as Abbey is another example of a bad ass female role model which has been so lacking under Moffats stewardship Sad

Noticed a lot of people on the Twitter are starting to get in to this show.  I think it's fantastic Cheesy. I stopped watching around 1/2 wat through series 2 then watched again from series 4, as the show became awesome (CASTIEL!!!) and have since started again from series 1 via DVDs.  Any other fans of the show here?  Tongue

Where do I start? Like Blue Rose I despair of the idea that women grow up simply aspiring to get married and have kids.   RTD had companions that grew through the influence of the Doctor, Moffat gives us companions that emasculate the Doctor.  His reaction to strong women is to be afraid, as a female fan that irks me. In this fandom we have been berated and pigeonholed for so long, RTD allowed us a voice, gave us strong, in an emotional way, female characters etc, role models.  My daughter is 10, would I want her to have Amy as a role model in the way I had Sarah Jane, NO!!!  There is precious little in the show now for me, I have no character I can relate to. Again, like Blue Rose I detest GITF as I cannot bear the notion the Doctor would abandon Rose for some fancy bit, it jars with the entire series arc, and I personally detest the sexual nature Moffat foists on everything he writes. By the way people blathered about the gay agenda but 0 lbgt characters in s5 is even more odd!

I have and it has made me consider watching series 6 - the man has power :-)

Not watched, but I gather he's reminded us all of his gift for simply telling a story of human interactions on SJA - I really love this man!
10  Fanatical For Who / Appreciation Threads / Russell T Davies Appreciation on: October 17, 2010, 01:17:19 am
Not a character but the man that made my dreams came true and brought back our show and made it great and polular again!  The man that showed my child that it is normal to have different races co-operating, that all sexualities are normal and that women can be strong and intelligent.

I love that man!   Grin

12  Travels In Time And Space / The 1980's & 1990's / Re: The Caves of Androzani on: October 17, 2010, 01:08:57 am
Grumpy old me here!  I think caves is hugely overrated, I like it, but don't think it's even on the same sheet as Pyramids of Mars in unadulterated fun.  I am basing my opinions on rewatches, when I was a child I loved the fifth Doctor, but on rewatch I find his episodes the least rewarding, they made an error in casting an already famous actor to replace Tom IMHO, an error that they haven't copied with the casting of Matt Smith recently.  I find a lot of JNT reign sterile and unengaging, and the Davison years sum this up for me.  I wish I could see what others seein his performance but I just don't, he's good in Caves but it's too late, if you get me?
13  Travels In Time And Space / The 1980's & 1990's / The Twin Dilemma - The Sixth Doctor on: October 17, 2010, 12:59:22 am
Okay, I bought this today, was in forbidden planet and picked it up for a laugh, saying, this is meant to be shite, I wonder if it's been reduced - and it had to 7.99 so I bought it Smiley  Thoughts so far - excellent extra features, it's not as bad as I had heard and I really like Colin as a person and I think he could have been a great Doctor without the stupid costume.  Yes he tried to strangle Peri, but haven't we all wanted to do that at one point or another? Wink Must buy some Colin Baker audios soon.  What do you lot think?
14  Travels In Time And Space / The Greatest Show In The Galaxy / Re: Who would you cast as the 12th Doctor? on: October 17, 2010, 12:32:06 am
If he became The Doctor I would have to stop watching or I would die from the hotness!!!!  Tongue

19  Fanatical For Who / Loathing Threads / Re: Dislike for River Song on: October 11, 2010, 11:32:30 pm
I'd be more positive about series 6 without her, for sure, even with a companion I am not keen on and the married couple in the TARDIS that doesn't quite gel for me.  *shrugs shoulders*.  After all these years it's rubbish to feel this way, I don't want to, but to have a "strong" female character who's "strength" is defined by a yet unseen relationship with the lead male rubs me up the wrong way *sighs*
20  Travels In Time And Space / Inside The Attic / Re: Julian Bleach on: October 11, 2010, 11:22:16 pm
*whispers* the Valeyard?

How great would it have been if he had played the Dream Lord :O Imagine the fan theories!
