No, it was the late 60s when the Krays were arrested. Python did a spoof about the Piranha brothers (Doug and Dinsdale) when it was still fairly topical.
EDIT OK, if I'd looked at the post above, I'd have seen it was actually the mid 60s. I think the trial went on for a while, though.

Np I think you're right - it did all came to a head in the late 60s. I read somewhere that, although they were arrested as I stated above, it didn't stick. The big stuff (arrest, trial, conviction) came later.
