It's been a while, but for this weeks story we go back to the Seventh Doctor with Remembrance Of The Daleks.

The Seventh Doctor and Ace battle two Dalek factions in 1963, London, both of them seeking the Hand of Omega, a Gallifreyan Superweapon.

Remembrance of the Daleks was the first story of the landmark 25th season of Doctor Who. The story's setting brought the Doctor back to 76 Totter's Lane in the year 1963, where the series began in An Unearthly Child. This was the final appearance of the Daleks and Davros in the original 1963-89 series. Except for a brief reference in the 1996 TV movie, the Daleks would next be seen in the 2005 episode Dalek. Davros would not return until 2008's The Stolen Earth.

The next story will be posted on Sunday 22nd January. Happy viewing Smiley

I don't think the Daleks were at their best here, but overall I do think it is a good story. The nods to An Unearthly Child were good, though perhaps a little weak and easy to miss if you didn't know they were there. I would suggest that that was perhaps so as not to alienate newer fans and not be too self referential, but that never bothered JNT before.

As much as I dislike the 7th Doctor there were a couple of really good stories in the last season -- as good as Who had been in a long time. This was one of them. Wonder what would have happened if it had continued.

Can't give a rating because it's too long since I've seen it

I went with a 5. This is definately one of my favourites from the McCoy era and a great way to mark the 25th anniversary.

There was one more season after this one don't forget. An awesome season at that.

One of my favourites from the 80s, and 5 from me.  I love all the back-references, not to mention that sly little reference to Quatermass.  I did find what happened after the Hand of Omega was fired slightly confusing, but not enough to detract.

This, for me, was little short of perfection. I absolutely loved it. The subtle (and not so subtle) nods to the history of the show was a wonderful little drop in that made this such a joy. But they were as nothing compared to the frankly magnificent performance of Sly McCoy. More than an echo of Troughton, a dash of Pertwee all mixed in with his own individual stamp. I have to be honest I don't think i've seen a more "Doctorish" performance in any story. It was pitch perfect and he was everything I want in my Time Lord. Add to that a wonderful companion, a killer supporting cast and a nicely crafted story (by a very able writer) and you have my favourite McCoy story and not far off my favourite Classic story.

My only regret is that I can't give it a 6 Smiley

I've given it a 5 as well. I was so pleased when I found out this one was next. This might just be my favourite story from the McCoy era. The eighties get so much stick but things really turned around when Seven came on the scene and more credit is deserved

Never liked Ace. Her insistence on calling the Doctor "Professor" got on my nerves. Bring back the heaving bosoms of Peri! Or even Turlough. At least there they tried to do something different with the concept of the Doctor's companion.

I've gone with a four. For the most part I really like this story and have few complaints, but unlike a lot of the classics which felt stretched out, I think this one could have done with an extra 25 minutes. Also some of the guest characters were annoying. Other than that though I like it a lot

Sorry to rock the boat but I have gone with a three. Which isn't too bad really. I didn't dislike the story but it felt a bit rushed. No, perhaps rushed is the wrong way to put it. The first two episodes felt a bit slow, but then the last two episodes felt like they didn't have enough room to cover everything. Pacing problem. Also, despite not being a huge fan of his, I thought Davros could have done with more screen time. The Doctor was great though and I caught (I think) most of the nods to AUC, which was a nice tie in. Overall not a bad story, but not on my fave lists.

I got this one for Christmas so it was nice to be able to sit and watch properly without having to watch it in parts on here. I have to say I really enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting to, but I did. This is only the second Seventh Doctor story that I have seen so I am still unsure of how I feel about him, but I really liked him here. There were a few things I was a bit lost on, like the Omega stuff, but other than that I really enjoyed it. I'm going with a 4

The one to watch if you want Omega's background is The Three Doctors.  Well worth watching in any case.
