The Third Doctor was the third incarnation of the Time Lord known as the Doctor. He was exiled by the Time Lords on Earth for much of his life. The technological limits of the time period often made him frustrated and bitter. He was played by Jon Pertwee.

Second Place - Patrick Troughton

Third Place - Tom Baker

I kind of love how we've had a different winner for this every year.

And another great choice this year  Smiley

I agree. I always expect to see TB run away with it but I think Pertwee is an excellent Doctor and a very worthy winner.

I didn't expect to see Pertwee win, I have to be honest, but I do think he is an awesome Doctor and it's great to see him get some recognition.

Pertwee is a great choice. I went with Davison but I love them all and it's nice to see some rotation at the top.

I agree - there hasn't been a Doctor who's not great in his own way, even when they're not so well written.

Yay for Pertwee!! When I try getting my friends to watch the classics, I always point them to him. There is something about his Doctor that got me hooked on the classics. He's my favourite by far. There was so much range to him and his stories and he had the hard task of carrying off a show that was very restricted within his first two series, what with him being stuck on Earth. I'm really glad to see him win.

PT and TB are both awesome also, but I would have been happy seeing any two Doctors in those positions.

Go Pertwee! I wasn't expecting to see him take the crown, but it's very much deserved!

I didn't expect to see Pertwee win this, I'll be honest. He's a great Doctor though and very deserving. They all are.
