Hum, where do I start?

If we're being expected to believe that these are the real Robin and his men who are remembered in the legend, why were they like the later versions of the legend instead of the earlier ones?  The early Robin Hood ballads were set in Barnsdale in Yorkshire, not Sherwood, and in the reign of a King Edward. One of the front-runners for an original Robin Hood was a Robert Hood of Wakefield in the 1320s.

Robin's gang originally consisted of Little John, Will Scathelock (later changed to Scarlet) and Much the miller's son.  Alan a Dale and an unnamed friar each appear in one ballad but never join Robin, and Marion's a much later addition.  Why would this version have changed to the "correct" one, rather than the other way round?

Also, knights didn't wear plate armour in the 1190s.

Near the beginning when they first meet Robin Hood, the TARDIS door keeps alternating between open and closed (when nobody's near it).

I can forgive the episode for basing itself in the more commonly known Robing Hood story elements. Too many people would have been confused or even complaining about accuracy had they done anything else, it just wouldn't have been worth the trouble. As a fan who often finds himself defending the show from some of the more rabid members of the fanbase, I appreciate the odd placation here and there where it can be helped. Makes my life a little easier.

The only thing that bugged me was the fact that the prize for the archery contest was a solid gold arrow. While the sheriff is plundering the countryside for gold wherever he can find it, he wastes a large portion of it on... what, exactly? A gimmick to lure out an irrelevant annoyance?
