Sophie Aldred, who has appeared in over 20 audios as Ace, as well as appearing as the last companion of the classic series has apparantly quit the role and will make her last appearance in the April 2011 release, Thin Ice.
The story, which features the Ice Warriors, is an adaptation of an episode called Ice Time which was written for the unmade 27th series which would have originally seen Ace leave the Doctor to train to be a Time Lady on Gallifrey. Whether this will still be the outcome or whether she will leave to set up her charity as hinted in the SJA episode Death Of The Doctor is unknown.

Fair play to her, probably a bit difficult to still channel the crazy energy of Ace 20 odd years later.
Would've been nice to see her turn up in SJA though, but maybe too fanwankey?

I'd heard about this and hoped it wasnt true. I think that she may be being killed off though. In this months DWM it says on will die out of her and Hex so I am guessing with her leaving it will be her. Unless we are in for someone completely new and both are going

Its a shame about this. She is really good in the audios and the pairing is great. I hope they get rid of Hex though. I dont like him at all. If Ace is going then the Doctor should start fresh with new companions

Oh I quite liked Hex. I like the mentor/teacher kind of relationship he has with Ace, like what she had with the Doctor. He isnt in many but he is a nice enough character

He has his good points, but on the whole he isnt really one of the greatest companions on the audios. I do get what you mean about the mentor relationship but I think that if Ace goes, then both should

Yea I suppose to an extent I agree. He seems more like Ace's companion rather than the Doctor's in a lot of respects so perhaps its best to say goodbye to both. On the other hand he is played by Philip Olivier, which is enough reason to keep him involved if you ask me

Peri, you cant even see him on the audios! Its a shame she has decided to bow out after all these years but I suppose essentially playing the same character for over 20 years could get a bit tiresome. I hope they give her a good exit and dont just kill her off as has been suggested

Music written by Murray Gold from the soundtrack to Series 5 of Doctor Who has charted in the UK Indie Singles Charts, with two entries in the top 40
At the time of the last official chart update, the soundtrack had been released for just 6 days and the two tracks, which weren't officially released as singles, charted on the strength of downloads alone.
'Doctor Who XI', which is track number 1 on the Series 5 soundtrack went straight in at the Number 30 position, while 'I Am The Doctor', which is track number 9 on the soundtrack managed to go even better and so far peak at Number 16.
More entries are expected later today when the official charts are updated.

I dont post in here much because I havent listened to many audios, but I saw this and though people would like to know The Sontarans are to make their debut in a Big Finish Doctor Who audio production in 2011. Executive producer Nicholas Briggs has revealed that the squat clone soldiers, which first appeared in the 1974 TV story The Time Warrior, will do battle with the Fifth Doctor next April.
“It’s strange to think that, in over 140 monthly Doctor Who plays, we’ve never featured the Sontarans,” Briggs told DWM. “However, Alan Barnes has written a storming story for them, and Steven Moffat was kind enough to give his blessing for us to use them.
“These are definitely the Sontarans of old, dressed in their black armour, and from the same brood hatching as Commander Linx. Of course, casting the Sontarans is going to be an interesting challenge – they’re a monster with a very specific voice quality, and I’m very keen we get actors who can capture the stark military mindset.”
The Sontarans featured in four stories during the classic TV series: the aforementioned The Time Warrior, The Sontaran Experiment, The Invasion of Time and The Two Doctors. This as-yet-untitled adventure will be the first time that the Fifth Doctor has confronted them – although his companion Tegan met them alongside the Sixth Doctor and young Gareth Jenkins in the Jim’ll Fix It skit A Fix With Sontarans. “Yes, it’s unlikely that we’ll go there,” laughs Briggs.

There has been a considerable Sontaran shaped hole in the audios up to now, so this is very welcome.

The music from series 5 was brilliant so there is no wonder it has sold so well.
